Grant Funding Announcement

DC Co-op Impact Grant


The Washington Area Community Investment Fund, with support from Citi Community Development and Capital Impact Partners, is excited to announce the inaugural D.C. Co-op Impact Grant. This new grant program supports the growth of emerging and existing cooperatively-owned businesses in the Washington, DC area. Eight $5,000 grants will be awarded to advance cooperative development led by communities of color, people with low incomes and/or workers with low wages.

Cooperatives in all sectors and all stages of development are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to emerging cooperatively owned food businesses. Applications are due by: 11:59pm ET on March 31, 2020. Congress Heights Recreational Center - Community Kitchen and Grocery Cooperative

 

The Congress Heights Renovation Center project is in the process of designing a center multipurpose spaces DC Department of Parks and Recreation is gathering information on Congress Heights' interests.

Enough votes for both the community kitchen and grocery were cast to move to the next design round but more support is needed!

To advocate your support for this renovation project to include community kitchen and business incubators and grocery cooperatives, or receive updates on the next meeting, reach out to:

The Department of Small & Local Business Development's Inno.ED is once again partnering with Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) for this free interactive workshop.

Participants are exposed to the cooperative business model and explore practical ways that democratic ownership can apply to any and all businesses.

Fundraising and Crowdfunding Associate
Part-Time - Washington, DC


NCBA CLUSA is looking for a Fundraising and Crowdfunding Associate to work with the USAID Reforestation Project team on fundraising and social media outreach in support of Haitian cooperatives and enterprises.

This is a part-time, benefits eligible position. The level of effort is 15 to 20 hours a week for a duration of 6 months.
 

Communications Coordinator
Full-Time - Washington, DC


The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the development, production and delivery of Cooperative Development Foundation’s (CDF) internal and external communications. This includes editorial support for content and graphic design for the CDF and Heroes websites, social media platforms, and printed materials. The Communications Coordinator will also assist with, and have presence during, CDF events. S/he must be innovative, proactive, collaborative and efficient.

We can use much more support - if you or someone you know has an interest in co-ops, the solidarity economy, community organizing (or would like more experience in these areas) and have 1-2 hours per week to spare, additional needs include support with our:

  • Social media postings to help spread the word of existing or new local co-op efforts and opportunities

  • Event planning and outreach (offline and online)
