April 2021

The sunshine has arrived!

I can taste the warm rays of summer and beach weather. This month we take a look at creating the Summer Time T. This is April’s project for our Life’s a Beach crochet series for 2021.

In order to show off our summer top, we took a trip out to Cobourg Beach. This gorgeous waterfront town lies on the Northern shores of Lake Ontario. The word Ontario actually means “Great Lake” in the Huron language. The beach is nestled along the shore of the town of Cobourg.

Cobourg was settled in 1798! Who said Canada doesn’t have some serious history? The town was originally named Hamilton but was later changed to Cobourg in 1818, in recognition of the marriage of Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saafeld. (later Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, who would later become King ofBelgium) -For further reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobourg#History

Although the beach was closed due to the pandemic, it was still a lovely summer visit.

This light and airy top is made to fit to any size and it’s just wonderful for a summer crochet garment. The yarn used was Red Heart’s It’s a Wrap yarn in the Colour : Romance. It only took one cake to create this size medium. You can check out more colours when you click the link to out video. More info in the description box!

Pretty in Puffs Cardigan for Toddlers

The Pretty in Puffs Toddler cardigan has been a big hit for those looking to crochet a baby or child’s item. My goddaughter looked way too cute in hers, although she is growing like a weed and I realized I should have gone up another size.

We also have discovered a new stitch with the Rug stitch for a new Bathroom Rug tutorial although I think there is a proper name out there for this stitch. If you know what it is, please do share it with me.

And the African Flower motif was a big winner last month on the channel. Everyone loves a good granny motif;) Stay tuned because there are more motifs coming your way!
