Join BVOH TONIGHT as we host a screening and Q+A for the short film A CONCERTO IS A CONVERSATION.

After the film we will have the fantastic opportunity of having a conversation with Co-Director Ben Proudfoot and Composer/Film Subject/Co-Director Kris Bowers, moderated by Filmmaker Peter Nicks!!

A CONCERTO IS A CONVERSATION tells the story of virtuoso jazz pianist and film composer Kris Bowers as he tracks his family’s lineage through his 91-year-old grandfather from Jim Crow Florida to the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

A CONCERTO IS A CONVERSATION is Executive Produced by Ava DuVernay, co-directed by and starring Kris Bowers and Horace Bowers, Emmy Award-winning composer for Green Book, Bridgerton and How They See Us.


BVOH is being recognized WORLDWIDE! This Sunday, February 28th is the birthday of African-American singer and composer Ysaye Barnwell, creator of the song "Wanting Memories". In July of 2020 BVOH Produced a video project with the San Francisco Girls Chorus and PUSH Dance using  Barnwell's classic song. During Ysaye's birthday celebration (in JERUSALEM), our "Wanting Memories" video will be shown!
