Monarchs Welcomed Into the Four Houses of Magnolia School
As part of our homecoming to our school campus, this past Tuesday all of the members of the Magnolia School community were sorted into one of the four houses of Magnolia School - Vine, Light, Thyme, and Heron. The houses provide a small, familial group within the school to foster friendships, camaraderie, and friendly competition. As each student and faculty member was called forward and their house was announced, cheers and chants erupted, hugs and high fives were given, and plans were made for our first "Monarch Day" this coming Friday. The houses will compete in games and poetry, enjoy lunch together, and celebrate the spirit of Magnolia School.
Welcome home, Monarchs!

5th Grade Enrichment Studies
Here at Magnolia, our 5th grade students recently participated in an interdisciplinary enrichment day focused on oils. In history, as part of their study of ancient Greece and Rome, the girls studied the process of how olives are harvested and pressed into oil and sampled three different types of olive oil from around the world. In art, our Monarchs received an introduction to oil pastels and in religion, participated in a discussion about how oils are used within the sacramental life of the Church. It was a wonderful day immersed in some of the best liberal arts practices of learning from the world around us, making connections between different areas of study, and enjoying learning in community.
