Magnolia School's First Theatrical Productions

Our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students delighted the Magnolia community with a Christmas Production this past Thursday. The 4th graders presented Clement Clarke Moore's famous poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas," complete with his eight tiny reindeer and a sleepy household mouse! The 5th & 6th grade teamed up for an adaptation of Dr. Seuss' holiday classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Performing Arts is a new class at Magnolia this year and we are so proud of how the girls jumped right in to create a fun and festive show. Each girl brought her talents, whether they were in acting, costuming and make-up, or set design and building; it was beautiful to see how those gifts were fostered through the whole process of casting, practicing, producing, and performing. Congratulations are also due to Mrs. Scarpino, our Performing Arts teacher, for directing and guiding her students through each step. We can't wait to see what surprises the 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th grade girls bring to the Spring Performance!
2nd Annual Christmas Service Day
It is a tradition at Magnolia School to spend the last day prior to Christmas Break engaged in service projects that benefit our neighbors, be they next door, across town, or just down the hallway at school. Our 2nd grade students created some beautiful Christmas decorations and poems and went caroling around to our Magnolia neighbors bringing treats and good cheer. Students in 3rd grade (pictured above) assembled lunches for children in need. Monarchs in 4th grade made Christmas cards full of lovely images and encouraging words for homebound seniors. In addition to collecting essential supplies for Angela House in Houston, the 5th graders also crafted beautiful Christmas gift bags for the women who are served there. And finally, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes traveled to the Houston Food Bank for a full morning of service.

Throughout the day on campus, the girls enjoyed Christmas movies and completed a variety of other small service projects to prepare Magnolia for the holiday. It is always a joy for us to take leave of school for the Christmas break filled with the truth that it is in giving that we receive.
