Light Takes the Lead after 1st Monarch Day

It was an exceptionally glorious day at Magnolia School this past Tuesday for our first Monarch Day of the 2020-2021 academic year! Our December Monarch day is a fittingly placed amidst a week full of feasts celebrating Our Lady -- the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th, Our Lady of Loreto on the 10th, and Our Lady of Guadalupe on the 12th.

Our day began with an all-school Mass, followed by our Poet Laureate competition, in which two Monarchs per House, in each grade, perform their finest memorized poems and strive to earn the coveted title of "Poet Laureate."

After all of the poems were recited, we jumped into House games, which included cooperative challenges between Houses, relays, and an obstacle course which our oldest students tackled blindfolded while being coached and directed by our youngest students.

A delicious lunch and more games (including the popular "Bump Knockout" on the basketball court!) rounded out our day, which concluded with the announcement and crowning of the new Poets Laureate, who will reign until the next Monarch Day in the Spring.

Once the points were tallied, Light took the lead over Thyme, Vine, and Heron. It is still any House's game to win, however, and we are looking forward to more friendly and fierce competition over the coming months!
