Historic Dinner Party

History came alive in Ms. Leger's 7th grade American History class as her students participated in our 2nd annual Historic Dinner Party, which has quickly become a hallowed Magnolia tradition. Early in the semester, each Monarch was assigned one of the founding fathers or mothers to study in depth. This afternoon, the girls gathered in character & costume to enjoy a dignified meal together and discuss the trials and successes of the founding of the fledgling United States of America. They took turns debating various topics and when words failed to settle the disagreements, the infamous duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr occurred. We were impressed with the girls' hard work and preparation for this event and we can't wait to see what next year's class will bring to the dinner table.

A Beautiful Evening at Magnolia by Moonlight

Whether you joined us on campus as our guest for the 2nd annual Magnolia by Moonlight, bid on items through our online auction catalog, or made a donation, we sincerely appreciate your friendship and generosity!

We enjoyed a beautiful evening, and thanks are due to Laura Parra for her hard work and vision, and her team of incredible lead volunteers—Brandie Holmes, Leslie Shofner, Lindsay Laudadio, and Heather Cody. Our guests were treated to beautiful live music performed by the Dunne sisters: Charlotte, Josie, Claire, and Francie (all lovely daughters of the current President of our Board, Mrs. Kathi Dunne!). We are also grateful for the support of Lucky Landscaping Company and their loan of  several trees and plants for the evening and all of our sponsors who donated items to our auction. The evening would not have been a success without their generosity!

Thank you for your support and we look forward to welcoming you back to Magnolia in 2021!

We are happy to welcome Maria Luisa Lares to our staff at Magnolia! Maria Luisa joined us prior to Magnolia by Moonlight to provide administrative support for our Advancement Office and will continue on with us at Magnolia to assist in our office. Please join us in welcoming her!

Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Maria Luisa is the 3rd of 6 sisters, all of whom attended a school similar in mission and vision to Magnolia; she is happily feeling right at home in our all-girl environment! Following undergraduate studies in Industrial Engineering, she obtained an MBA after a move to the United States. She and her husband have lived in Houston for five years, and together are raising their four children, who range from college to 4th grade. In her spare time, she enjoys Pilates, walking, baking, and discovering new places to visit.
