Magnolia School's 1st Annual Historic Dinner Party

History came alive in Ms. Leger's 7th grade American History class as her students participated in our 1st annual Historic Dinner Party. Early in the semester, each Monarch was assigned one of the founding fathers to study in depth. Subsequently, the girls gathered in character & costume to enjoy a dignified meal together and discuss the trials and successes of the founding of the fledgling United States of America. They took turns debating various topics and when words failed to settle the disagreements, the infamous duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr occurred. We were impressed with the girls' hard work and preparation for this event and we can't wait to see what next year's class will bring to the dinner table.

Monarchs are Migrating Home to Magnolia School

We are so happy to announce that we have scheduled our move to our home campus! Following the 12:05 p.m. dismissal on Friday, 11/22 and on Saturday, 11/23, we will be moving out of our temporary space at Our Lady of Czestochowa. When we return from our Thanksgiving break on Monday, 12/2, classes will convene at the Magnolia School campus.

As  part of our preparations for the move, we are also planning for our upcoming "House Sorting Day" in which all of the students, faculty, and staff will learn which house they have been placed in. The four houses of Magnolia School are Light, Thyme, Vine, and Heron. Each house has distinctive characteristics, a virtue particularly associated with it, and we are thrilled to annouce: their own individual house crest!

This week, we are pleased to unveil...The House of Vine!

Friendship

The vine seen on the Coat of Arms is a Mexican Flame Vine. Monarch butterflies are particularly attracted to the vibrant orange blossoms of this plant. Vines are a symbol of friendship and connection. In the Gospel of John, Christ refers to Himself as “the true vine.” Vines allow plants to grow into spaces they would otherwise be unable to access. They are a unifying, creative force that has immense potential to envelop the world around them and transform it into something beautiful. The Mexican Flame Vine can be easily propagated from cuttings; this is symbolic of how Magnolia students will be able to take what they have received from their education and share it with others.

A Day at Dewberry Farm
Our young Monarchs in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade enjoyed a recent field trip to Dewberry Farm. The girls were particularly lively on the bus ride to the farm and enjoyed singing many of the songs they have been working on learning in music class. At the farm, they enjoyed plenty of sunshine, fresh air, games, rides, and fun with their friends and teachers. Following a picnic lunch, the girls returned to Magnolia to greet their families and regale them with stories and memories of a wonderful day. There's always time for adventures at Magnolia School!
Annual Fund Update:
2nd grade takes the lead!

The Monarchs are still racing towards 100% participation in each grade level. This week, 2nd grade took the lead with 86% participation in the Annual Fund! 7th is very close behind at 80%. If you haven't yet contributed, please submit your contribution and/or pledge as soon as possible through our website, https://www.magnoliaschool.org/support-us

We are in the home stretch headed towards 100% participation from our Magnolia families, faculty, staff, and board. Let's go, Monarchs!
