Prelate of Opus Dei Visits Magnolia School
This past Tuesday, July 23, the Prelate of Opus Dei, Monsignor Fernando Ocáriz made a historic first visit to Magnolia School. Don Fernando was greeted by many members of the Magnolia community, including several students, faculty and staff, benefactors, and board members. A beautiful walk around the facility and program was prepared for the visit by Mrs. Parra, President of the Board of Directors for Magnolia School.

Padre saw the entire campus, heard stories from two of our students, and answered a question posed to him by our Head of School, Mrs. Omanga. He encouraged us in our mission and reminded us of the importance of formation for the whole family, beginning with parents as the primary educators of their children. Additionally, he lovingly blessed two pieces of sacred art that will hang in Magnolia School.

Finally, Don Fernando assisted with a ceremonial planting of a stately Magnolia tree that will grace the grounds of our school. We are confident that his prayers are with us, both in these final days before we open for our inaugural academic year as well as in the weeks and months to come.

This week, we are pleased to introduce Helena Nunez-Mestre who has joined the Magnolia staff as our Office Manager.
Helena holds a Master’s Degree in Humanities, majoring in Art History, from University Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona Spain. She is fluent in both Spanish and Catalan. In addition, she has a Diploma in German Language and Phonetics by the Eberhard Karls Universitat in Tubingen (Germany) and a Certificate in Elementary Level in French (Alliance Française).

Helena has more than 10 years of experience in the education field. As Associate Director of Parents Alliance, Inc. (a non-profit organization that supports low income Hispanic families and assists them in taking charge of their children’s education) Helena worked with the Board of Directors on expanding the organization with new learning programs while overseeing the operations across the United States. Furthermore, Helena has also experience in teaching Spanish to children, young adults, and executives in multiple language schools.

She has been married for 17 years and has three daughters. As a family, they have had the opportunity of living in four different countries and experiencing a variety of cultures. Helena is passionate about the art of etiquette and protocol, and very interested in interior design.

She is delighted to use her skills and knowledge to support the faculty and staff at Magnolia School.
