House Sorting Day
Members of the Houses of Light, Thyme, Vine, and Heron reunited this past Tuesday to welcome new students, faculty, and staff. While the friendly House of Vine dubbed new members with a vine covered scepter, grateful new Herons ran through a tunnel of housemates. Insightful members of the House of Light stood alongside courageous Thyme and cheered heroically as new friends and sisters joined their ranks. The Houses at Magnolia allow for a deep sense of  belonging, camaraderie, and a healthy dose of competition! We can't wait to see what each House will bring to our first Monarch Day in December!

Performing Arts at Magnolia School

We're happy to be offering a new class this year at Magnolia School-- performing arts! This class will incorporate things such as reader's theatre performances, public speaking skills, games, and connections across our curriculum into history, religion, and much more. Mrs. Raquel Smith has joined the Magnolia faculty to teach this class and the girls have jumped in enthusiastically. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Smith to Magnolia and enjoy a few photos from one of our first days of outdoor theatre at Magnolia School!

Raquel is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in Houston, having earned a B.A. in Liberal Arts with concentrations in Studio Arts and Philosophy. She has worked as a counselor at Metro Achievement Center in Chicago, which provides educational enhancements and mentoring for girls in the inner city. Additionally, Mrs. Smith has worked in her family’s real estate investment company, assisting with project management. She is married to Alec, and together they have a 14 month old son, Ramon. Additionally, Mrs. Smith is the oldest sister of one of the members of our first class of graduating 8th graders and happily joined her this week in the House of Thyme.
