THE MONARCH

February 20, 2020
A Patriotic Gift for Magnolia School
In honor of Presidents' Day this past Monday, the Monarchs had an all-school assembly and received a generous gift from Governor and First Lady Cecilia Abbott: the Texas flag that was flown over the state capitol on the first day of classes for Magnolia School, August 28, 2019. The flag was accompanied by a signed and sealed greeting from Governor Abbott and a personal letter from Mrs. Abbott, offering us her best wishes as we began our inaugural academic year. We are so grateful that these pieces of Texas history are now part of Magnolia School's history and will grace the walls of our school for many years to come.
2nd Annual Spring Luncheon

Please join us for our 2nd Annual Spring Luncheon on Thursday, March 5th. This year, along with a keynote address from our founding Head of School, Annamarie Omanga, all of our Magnolia School students will treat our guests to a special performance of songs and poems. This is a wonderful opportunity to see your Monarch shine and support Magnolia School at the same time. To sponsor a table or purchase tickets for this event, please use the form on our website, found here
Magnolia School Represented in Regional Spelling Bee

Elizabeth Cerda, 7th grade, competed as Magnolia School's top speller in the local regional spelling bee for private schools in Harris County. We are proud of Elizabeth's hard work in preparing for the bee and her fortitude that allowed her to advance several rounds. C-o-n-g-r-a-t-u-l-a-t-i-o-n-s, Elizabeth!

Paul Revere, 1774

A note on today's art: yes! That Paul Revere! Best known for his midnight ride to alert the colonial militia to the approach of the British forces before the battles of Lexington and Concord, Revere was also an accomplished silversmith, engraver, and early industrialist. His drawing seen here reveals a keen sense of the details and order found in the natural world.
