It's Back to School Time for Magnolia's Faculty and Staff!
Monday, August 5th was the first official workday for the entire Magnolia School Faculty and Staff. The team gathered to begin several weeks of workshops to prepare for the upcoming year of educating girls in truth, beauty, and freedom. This week, guest speakers have included Mr. Chris Carroll and Mr. Jason Hebert, both of Western Academy, who shared their wisdom (along with a few fun stories!) with the women of Magnolia.

Our office has been transformed into a buzzing hive of new and old friends coming together to share best practices, learn more about the mission and vision of Magnolia School, and enjoy some fellowship before the first day of classes.
Meet a Magnolia Teacher

We'd like to welcome a new addition to the Magnolia team, Chris West, who will be teaching 5th grade Religion.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Chris received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie-Mellon University, where she met Scott, her husband of 37 years. While raising their five sons, she has maintained an active involvement in local parish activities in both Indiana and Texas, volunteering as a catechism teacher and cantor for weekly Masses. Additionally, she has spent time speaking on topics of personal development to various groups of women.

As an artist, Chris worked as a staff illustrator for the Detroit News and for Chrysler. (One of her works can be seen below in today's Monarch!)

A recent Grandmother, Chris looks forward to the opportunity to share her faith and passion with the young ladies at Magnolia!

Summer Fun for our Incoming Monarchs
Our Monarchs have been fluttering around enjoying a full summer!
Here are some highlights from their adventures:
Caroline and Isobella got together in Houston to create a few beautiful crafts in preparation of 5th Grade at their new school! They each completed a canvas of artwork and decorated picture frames to display photos of their first day of school.
Several of our Monarchs enjoyed a week of "Family Summer" with their families in Beaver Creek, Colorado. This is a unique vacation organized by a group of families in Houston to provide an opportunity for families to truly rest, relax , and receive formation and encouragement together in a beautiful setting.
Meet a Magnolia Staff Member

This week, we are pleased to introduce Verónica Corella-Barud who has joined the Magnolia staff as our Administrative Assistant.
Born and raised in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico, Veronica completed her undergraduate studies in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. Following her time at ITESM, Veronica studied Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso. She then obtained her Master's in Public Health at The University of Texas Health Science Center.

Veronica has worked both as an environmental researcher for non-profit organizations and in various educational settings. Most recently, she worked as the Registrar for Western Academy. She has one sister and has been married to her husband Alberto for twenty three years and together they have two children, Norman and Magda.

In her spare time, Veronica loves hiking, reading, cooking, and playing board games.
