Magnolia's Defining Elements: Personal Mentoring
Over the coming weeks, we'll be highlighting each of Magnolia School's Defining Elements here in The Monarch to give our readers a closer look at what makes Magnolia unique and beautiful. This week's element is our Personal Mentoring, or "Advising" program.

At Magnolia, each girl is paired with a faculty advisor who serves as her personal mentor. The faculty at Magnolia is composed of women who are well-formed, life-long learners who are capable of assisting advisees on topics ranging from friendships to academics. Parents are encouraged to work closely and communicate with their daughter's mentor so that girls can receive consistent support between school and the home.

Mentors meet one-on-one with students regularly to discuss the student’s academic, extra-curricular, and personal growth. The mentor is an advocate for the student should she find herself struggling or in need of an extra challenge. In grades 2-4, the student's homeroom teacher serves as her mentor. Beginning in 5th grade, girls are paired with a faculty member who will remain with her through the rest of her years at Magnolia. This relationship provides an element of consistency during years that are filled with change and growth for a young woman.

This program allows us to ensure that every student at Magnolia is seen, known, and loved, and we look forward to seeing these relationships continue to grow and flourish even after our students graduate from Magnolia!
