The Future Pub show preview. Answers on a post card as to what you think is going on here!

Ey up <<First Name>>, how are you?

Good news. I am now free from COVID and I have been released back into the wild. I am hoping this is the last time I have to mention COVID for a while.

Last Saturday evening, I watched a preview of ‘Future Pub’. This is a theatrical show about pubs, created by my friends Katie and Simon, AKA Small Acts. Cornwall-based Katie and Simon were the brains behind The Yorkshire Square pop-up bar and arts space in Kirkgate Market last Summer, as well as a number of previous other beer and pub events in Leeds. The overall project has culminated in the creation of this show and I would strongly recommend you buy a ticket when the full tour starts. That will hopefully be later this year and I will include ticket links nearer the time.

Before we move on, Leeds Beer Name of the Month voting for March is now open, with links below. Get voting!

In this week’s issue of Leeds Beer Shorts, Bini Brew collab with Hops and Dots, Tartarus collab with S43 and Nomadic release Ernest.

Brewery Shorts

We begin in Farsley this week, as Amity Brew Co get the front page treatment on the latest issue of Brewers Journal (industry magazine), which you can read online.

There are no details on the beer just yet, but this week Bini Brew welcomed Hops and Dots (Bishop Aukland) to the brewery for a collaboration.

The date of Bosun’s Brewery next pop-up brewery taproom has been released. You can drink from the source on Saturday 9th April.

The full line-up for Horsforth Brewery’s beer festival is complete, with Craft Beer Newcastle bringing beers from a range of North East brewers. As a reminder, they will be joining Amity, Harrogate, Kirkstall, Nomadic and North Brewing. Tickets are selling rapidly for this, with some sessions already sold out.

The latest addition to Nomadic Beers’ Single Hop Pale series is out. Ernest showcases British grown Ernest hops and is 4.5% ABV.

Big congratulations go to North Brewing who this week won one of the industry’s most prestigious awards - Best Brewing Pub Company at the Morning Advertiser awards.

There’s some more newbies from Northern Monk this week. First is Fresh 011 a 10.2% ABV triple IPA, brewed with Strata, Simcoe and Azacca hops. Second is Patrons Project 22.06 with Laura Slater. This is called Golden Hour and is a Centennial single-hopped double IPA, coming in at 8% ABV. Finally, Fresh 012 is also out, with a bit of a new look. This one is a 7% ABV double dry hopped IPA, featuring Mosaic (yum yum!), Citra, Idaho 7, Azacca and Strata hops.

And, finally. New from Tartarus Beers this week is Pishacha. This is a a 6.8% ABV India export porter, hopped with Simcoe, Chinook and Cascade. Their collaboration with S43 Brewery (Coxhoe, near Durham) is also out now. This one is a 9.9% ABV Belgian strong ale called Mythical Beast Bandwagon.
