Ey up <<First Name>>, how are you? |

It is Easter week, which means a busy one for me (whoop!). 4 tours running in 4 days, with (as I write) 25 people spread across each one. It will at least keep me out of mischief. |
In social news, it isn’t often I get to name drop, but this week I managed to catch up with Beer Royalty in the form of Melissa Cole. Melissa is one of the UK’s leading commentators on food and beer, having authored many books and made national media appearances. She is spending a few days in Leeds so you may spot her around. To find out why she is in Leeds though, you had better read ‘Brewery Shorts’ below. |
Another reminder that in two weeks time, on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May, I am running interactive sessions at The Tetley, where you can get hands-on with artefacts from the Tetley Brewery archive, hear stories from the Victorian press about the brewery and more. This forms part of the 200 anniversary celebrations of Joshua Tetley’s founding of the brewery in 1822. Links below. |
In this week’s issue of Leeds Beer Shorts, Piglove By The River is back, Northern Monk’s hop water and Amity’s new lager. |

Welcome to new subscribers! This section is a news digest of happenings at Leeds-based breweries in the last 7 days. The newsletter is prepared on a Thursday, so any news that breweries release between the final draft and the email arriving in your inbox on a Friday, will be included in the next newsletter. If you want to find out more about a particular piece of news, click the word that is underlined and coloured blue. |

| Many of us will be looking forward to what is being promised as a “barmy” Easter weekend of weather. So, it is quite fitting that Amity have this week released a new lager. Spring is a maibock style lager, and is 6% ABV. Drink responsibly in the sunshine folks. |

| What is Melissa Cole doing in Leeds? She is over at Horsforth Brewery, brewing a collaboration with them and helping judge their homebrew competition. The collaboration is set to be a low ABV pale ale, brewed using Horsforth honey. I will have more information on that in coming weeks. To celebrate Yorkshire Craft Beers’ birthday, Horsforth have brewed Cheers & Beers to Three Years. This one is a 5.9% ABV triple dry hopped India pale ale. |

| New from Meanwood this week is a 5% ABV Haskapa sour India pale called Enemy of my Enemy. Haskap is a type of berry, so now you know! This one has also been hopped with Galena. |

| At the end of last week, Nomadic welcomed Hops and Dots Brew Co. (Bishop Auckland) for a collaboration. Beer details coming soon! In a sure-fire sign that the weather is improving, Nomadic will this weekend be relocating their taproom back into the main brewery warehouse, with outdoor seating also making a return. |

| North have done a collaboration with Thornbridge Brewery (Bakewell) and it tickles my fancy as it is a cask-only release. The new beer is a 3.8% ABV dark mild. This is a malt-forward beer, but is balanced with all-English hops - East Kent Goldings and Ernest. Joining that is Precious Falling. This is a 4.3% ABV fruited sour, featuring honeyberry, hibiscus and lemon. |

| The latest from Northern Monk is that they have released H2OP, sparkling hop water. Made with Yorkshire Water and Citra hops, coming in at 0% ABV (as you would expect!). Joining this is Northern Wild 001. This is a saison yeast fermented, 30 month white wine barrel-aged and Brettanomyces yeast conditioned 5.4% ABV mixed fermentation ale. |

| And, finally. Wetherby Brew Co have amended their taproom opening hours. Not just for the Easter weekend, but throughout Spring and Summer too. It means there will be more time to enjoy their beer from the source. |
