District Updates

Facilities Listening Session: October 5

Ever wonder when our schools were built? Have thoughts on what our students need the most from our facilities? Here is a great chance to be heard! The Lake Chelan School District will host a listening session on Wednesday October 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the school district central office, which is located at 309 E. Johnson. We would love to hear from you!

Conference Week: October 10 - 13

Lake Chelan School District conference week is October 10 - 13. Please be on the lookout for an invite from your student or from your student's teacher in the coming weeks. While these conferences look a bit different at each school due to student needs, our goal is to have a conference for each of our students with a family member. We look forward to partnering with families about each student's learning journey!

Homecoming: October 10 - 15

Mark your calendars - Homecoming 2022 is October 10 - 15! Check CHS social media and our webpage for updates on scheduled community events, athletics schedule, pep rallies, and theme days!

CMS Emphasizes Regular Attendance

The start of the school year has been fun and exciting at Chelan Middle School. One of our goals this year is to have 95% average daily attendance. So far this year, we are at 92.4% daily attendance. Students who are chronically absent have a 16% lower graduation rate and perform lower on standardized tests than their peers who are not chronically absent. At CMS, we want to partner with parents and help support students who are struggling to make it to school. First Day of School!

Students at Chelan Schools had a warm welcome back to school this month! Thank you to the Chelan Football team, Hope Squad, Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) students, new Security Officer Alvin Little, and all of our students and staff for making the first day of school special!

Welcome Alvin Little!

Alvin Little has been hired as the Lake Chelan School District Safety and Security Officer (S.S.O.). He will join administrator Ryan McKelvie (who is also the LCSD Athletic Director) and current Chelan County Sheriff Deputy Nigel Hunter to provide oversight and daily attention to security and emergency preparedness throughout our district. Mr. Little comes to us from Kings Schools in Shoreline, WA. Prior to working at Kings, Mr. Little served 35 years with the Seattle Police department. Mr. Little is also passionate about music and can be found greeting students with his saxophone and playing at special events. Welcome aboard Mr. Little!

The Lake Chelan School District Child Nutrition Department is excited to announce that we are officially a community eligible provisional site! This means we have qualified to provide all of our students free meals, regardless of family income! All of our students will eat free, nutritious meals for the next four years. More info to come!

CSI Mascot

Chelan School of Innovation is formally adopting a mascot and wants your input! The new mascot name will reflect the school’s values of Real-World Learning, High Expectations coupled with High Support, and Equitable Outcomes, and will also be connected to our local region. The CSI committee will review community and student input before a final decision is made. Please fill out the survey by the end of September and share your ideas!

Our Students in Action

Traveling Naturalist at MOE

Traveling Naturalists from the Wenatchee River Institute will visit our 4th and 5th grade classrooms throughout the year! Students will learn to observe nature, draw and label natural artifacts, how humans can impact our environments and end the year with a small hiking trip at our State Park to practice identifying wildlife around us.

High School Club Fair

On Wednesday, September 7, CHS held its annual club fair. All 17 clubs and club representatives were present to answer student questions and recruit future members. If you have a student who is interested in signing up for a club they can contact Mr. Granger or Mr. Pancho to get more information. Click here see all of the clubs and activities offered at CHS. Get Involved Goats!

FFA Competes at Regional Fairs

FFA members participated in the North Central Washington Fair in August and the Chelan County Fair in September. The fairs give students the opportunity to show and judge livestock, horses, produce, and even competitively drive tractor! Congratulations to Chelan FFA for their successes so far this year!

CSI Vision Boards

Students at the Chelan School of Innovation are creating vision boards for what they want their futures to look like and starting to explore possible internship ideas! Each year, CSI students partner with local businesses and organizations to secure internships that align with their career interests to gain valuable hands on experience.

Tune in to KOZI

Tune in to KOZI on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month at 8:20 a.m. to hear about school district activities and that week's school board meeting from Superintendent Brad Wilson. Tune in to KOZI on AM 1230 or

A Note About Air Quality

Our Lake Chelan School District administrators are always prioritizing the well being of our students. This sometimes involves making decisions on whether activities need to be indoors or outdoors based on air quality. Our decisions are based on guidance from the Department of Health, which can be reviewed here.
