Bishop David Alan Bard of the Michigan Area has called for a special session of the Michigan Annual Conference to be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Goodrich Chapel on the campus of Albion College in Albion, Michigan.  The sole purpose of this session of the Michigan Annual Conference will be to consider whether the Michigan Conference will send the legislation based on the Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace Through Separation to General Conference 2020 so it might be considered by the delegates to the General Conference.

This is a very important special session that is consequential for the future of The United Methodist Church. I URGE Every Member to register for this special session and confirm your attendance.  If there is any Lay Member who is unable to attend, please notify your pastor immediately. If you are a district equalization member and you know you will not attend this special session, immediately notify Ms. Ruby Anderson; District Lay Leader. All local churches’ Lay Leaders and District Commission on Laity are authorized replacement members to attend this special session.

If you are a local church Lay Member to Annual Conference or an Equalization Member to Annual Conference of 2019 who knows they are unable to attend please notify Ms. Ruby Anderson or your pastor by Feb. 14th so a replacement may be found. Deadline March 13, 2020

Teams or individuals looking at domestic or international mission work should consider the training to prepare for the mission journey.  The training looks at the preparation before, during, and after the team returns. Paperwork/ information forms and insurance requirements are shared.
Training is required for those seeking scholarship funding from the Michigan Conference.

UMC Mission Internship Applications are NOW Available!

The Mission Intern Program offers a great summer opportunity for young adults to deepen their faith and work alongside other faith-driven people.

The Mission Intern Program offers young adults, age 18-28, the opportunity to serve for eight weeks over the summer in United Methodist congregations and related non-profits across the state of Michigan. Interns serving with congregations who engage with their communities through a variety of opportunities including children's day camp, housing, and feeding programs.

Deadline for Application is: April 1, 2020

The overall goals of the Mission Intern Program are to develop young adult leaders, assist United Methodist congregations to be in ministry with their local communities, and answer the challenge of the Bishops’ Initiative on Children and Poverty.

Young adults participating in the Mission Intern Program also have the opportunity to experience serving in a community that may be different than their home setting. 

Interns receive a $2,800 stipend throughout the summer.
