Korean Pop music, commonly known as K-Pop is a genre which originated in South Korea. It is more of a fusion of different music genres worldwide, ranging from reggae to R&B to Hip-Hop. South Korea has tons of genres of music of its own (like Trot and Traditional music) but it is KPop which has the whole world’s attention today, not just for the catchy tunes but also for the different-than-industry business ideas.

Business term of the week

Jump the shark. 
If a business or product is past its prime and grasping at straws to stay relevant, it has jumped the shark, i.e., something that was previously successful but has now gone downhill.

Exports contract 10.21% in July.

Contracting for the fifth straight month, India's exports slipped 10.21 % to $23.64 bn in July, on account of decline in the shipments of petroleum, leather and gems and jewellery items. Trade deficit narrows to $4.83 bn.
 

RBI board approves dividend to the government.

The RBI approved the transfer of Rs 57,128 cr as a surplus to the government for the accounting year 2019-20. The surplus transfer is sharply lower than last years Rs 1.76 lakh cr.
 
Eicher Motors buys Volvo's India buses business.

Eicher Motor’ arm VECV will acquire Volvo Group's bus business in India for Rs 100.5 crore. The bus division would be responsible for manufacturing, assembly, distribution and sale of both Volvo and Eicher buses in India.
 

Tim Cook is now a Billionaire.

Tim Cook has officially joined the billionaire club as the tech firm's stock is hovering near a record $2-trillion valuation. His net worth has eclipsed $1 billion as Apple's share price rose almost 5 %.
Companies line up for dollar loans worth $5 billion.

Borrowers have sought at least $5 billion of dollar facilities since July 1. If they sign them this quarter, it would be the most since the first quarter.
