VISA INFORMATION

  1. EU citizens and those additional nationalities listed above in green do not need a visa. No application is required.

  2. All citizens of nations listed above in blue require a visa, but this application can be made here in Salzburg immediately after the student has arrived.

  3. Citizens of nations listed above in Orange will need to get a visa before entrance to Austria is possible at the start of the school year when the dormitories open on the 7th and 8th of September, 2020. In most cases, the Austrian Consulates that issue the visas are closed in most of the nations on this list. However, the local authorities have given our school the exceptional allowance to college the visa application documentation and submit it here in Salzburg. Our business office will take care of this and provide any information necessary. If it is the case that you require a visa to be able to enter Austria (orange listing above) please read the information below on the visa documentation required and be prepared to send those which are necessary in the near future.

REQUIRED VISA DOCUMENTATION

  1. Birth certificate in original language and a certified German translation of the certificate

  2. Passport photocopy (information and photo page)

  3. Passport photo (35mm x 45mm)

  4. Certificate of no criminal record from the local police authorities with certified German translation

  5. Visa application form (will be completed by the school office staff)

  6. Letter of invitation and guardianship (will be completed and signed by the school administration)

  7. Health insurance policy valid in Austria (policies which meet these conditions can be organized and communicated by the school office staff - only signature of agreement is required for the visa)

Please note that numbers 1 through 4, above, need to be sent to the school by the family and since it is now early July, this needs to be done as soon as possible as the turnaround time to receive the visa here in Salzburg and return it to the family can take six to eight weeks. We have therefore set a deadline of August 1, 2020 for the reception of these documents.

TUITION REFUND INFORMATION

  • For full boarders who are able to arrive at the start of the school year, the full boarding tuition is due as per policy. Tuition has been reduced by 10% and stands between €31,000 and €35,000 for the entire school year.
    1. The tuition down payment is due within 30 days of acceptance and admissions offer.
    2. The school will receive and deposit the required documentation for the visa application, if required, when the down payment and signed enrollment agreement has been received.

  • For students that apply and enroll after the start of the school year as full or five-day boarders, the tuition is adjusted by taking the total number of weeks that enrollment will include and billing only for this period of enrollment at the school.
    1. A down payment may not be required if the student applies and is accepted within 30 days of the start of enrollment. Instead, the full tuition amount is billed forthwith.
    2. If a visa is required for entry into Austria, the school will receive and deposit the necessary visa documentation upon reception of the down payment and enrollment agreement.

  • For boarding students who have been accepted and have made a down payment, yet are unable to travel to the school because of government restrictions, tuition will be revised based upon eventual, actual enrollment and residency at the school. Online instruction will be made available for all such students. On a weekly basis, such students will be charged the day student tuition rate as published in the AIS- Salzburg brochure for the 2020-2021 school year. This weekly tuition will be covered by the previous down payment received so that no further tuition payments are required unless this period of restriction from travel extends beyond the end of the Fall Trimester (November 27, 2020). As soon as restrictions are lifted and the student arrives at the school, a new invoice will be calculated based upon the number of weeks of online instruction plus the remaining year as a full boarder at the respective rates. This payment must be made upon arrival and the start of residency.

  • If the student is unable to arrive in Salzburg to begin the school year due to government health and travel restrictions and the family decides to forego enrollment, any deposits or payments made to the school will be fully refunded except for any additional costs generated by the process of visa application, etc. The application fee is non-refundable.
