It's easier than ever to schedule Room Service
Coordinating mutually convenient times to schedule non-emergency appointments is no longer a challenge for you and Your Tech Concierge™.  If you have not yet booked a  Remote Room-Service™ appointment using my on-line calendar, you don't know what you're missing.  Just http://askavie.click/schedule or point your Mobile Phone's Camera at this QR Code:

Do you use QR Codes?

Quick Response Codes such as the one I've posted above are now more widely used than ever. As we carry our mobile phones with us everywhere, we can easily access information such as restaurant menus, links to websites, Paypal or Venmo accounts, contact details and other information that we may wish to acquire that would otherwise require more typing and "touching" than is necessary.

You may have wondered how you might create your own QR Code and use it in your business or personal communications. Check out QRCode Monkey. It is one of the most popular free online QR code generators and the one that I use. The high resolution of the QR codes and the powerful design options make it one of the best free QR code generators on the web that can be used for commercial and print purposes. Check it out: https://askavie.click/qr

How Old is your Computer?

Seems like yesterday when you bought that thing doesn't it?   Time seems to escape us and often a computer, unlike a toaster, gets old before you know it.  They say dogs age 7x faster than humans, although, if you ask me, computers age even faster.  So, when IS it time to retire that old machine and think about something brand new?  My rule of thumb for business computers is every 3-5 years.  Why so frequently?  Your Tech Concierge™ has several reasons: 1) Take a pre-emptive approach. Don't wait until your system takes it's last breath before investing in a new one.  Most manufacturers standard repair warranties range from 1 to 3 years.  The cost of an out-of-warranty repair is routinely 50% of the value of a new machine. A repair simply fixes a part of your old computer, it doesn't prolong the life of any of the other parts nor does it extend the warranty.  2) An older computer doesn't give you the efficiencies of newer, speedier equipment.  You may have an old hard drive or slower CPU.  Newer systems come with Solid State Drives (SSD's) that are 10x faster and more reliable than their mechanical counterparts.  If you haven't yet experienced an SSD equipped computer, you don't know what you've been missing. 3) Scheduled replacements make it easier for you. Planning your upgrade is a much easier process than dealing with a sudden interruption of your already hectic workload.  There are few things worse than preparing for an important meeting and having your computer fail midway through.  In addition to routine maintenance, security updates and judicious data backups, consider also replacing your computer on a timely schedule that works for you.  End of year business acquisitions of computers can be a tax-favorable event since they are usually fully deductible as Section 179 property.  Ask your Accountant how this might help your tax planning and your bottom line. When you are ready, aSKaVIE for help acquiring and setting that new system up just right!

Password Paradise

For many computer users, one of the most challenging things involves creating, organizing and using  passwords. While security is a necessary concern in a digital world, it remains a weakness for far too many.  Enter the realm of Password Management Software. This category of software enables users to create, securely store, and use unique and strong passwords for each and every need.  With encryption and verification tools included, great password management software is available to make the chore of protecting your accounts less of a burden. If you've been putting off converting those scraps of paper that you jot down your passwords on, or even worse, if you haven't changed that one and only password that you created 20 years ago and reuse for all of your needs, please don't delay any longer. Follow the lead and recommendations of many of my long-time clients who have been touting the praises of products like Roboform and Dashlane. These programs have truly made their lives easier, less stressful and more secure. https://askavie.click/Password
