Let's Learn About...

Bowls.
Victoria’s most accessible sport.

Bowls Victoria provides opportunities for people of all abilities to participate in the sport; and includes making the sport more accessible to people with a disability.

Love Sport? Let's learn about... Bowls

Bowls is easily adapted to suit each participant, for example, there are bowlers arms for those who can’t bend down to the ground and foam bowls for those who don’t have the strength to use a real bowl. As a low impact and non-contact sport, bowls is ideal for people with a disability.

Disability Groups

  • Blind Bowls Victoria
  • Deaf Bowls Victoria
  • Victorian Intellectual Disabilities Squad
  • Victorian Physical Disabilities Squad
There are elite pathways for bowlers with a disability in Bowls Victoria's four Victorian Disability squads. These squads have regular training days at various Clubs across Victoria and compete in State and National championships, helping to promote disability awareness and promote the inclusiveness of our sport.
As a member of a squad you will have the opportunity to play bowls and socialise with other bowlers with a disability.

These squads are great whether you are looking for social or competitive participation. The training days are fun and relaxed. They are also a great way to practice your skills with the state coaches. The State and National events are a fantastic way to put your training to use. State events are open to all bowlers, while National events require selection to the Victorian side.

Bowls Month

Bowls is the fastest growing social sport in Victoria.

Bowls Month is a ‘come and try’ campaign managed by Bowls Victoria and runs during the month of October at Bowls Clubs around Victoria.
Bowls Clubs throughout the state will be running events to introduce Victorians to Lawn Bowls. Many clubs will open their doors for free, but some may have a small charge attached, which is often a gold coin donation.
