Hanging Basket varieties made by Greenbush Greenhouses
Mother's Day is Sunday, May 12th, and the Co-op is offering a beautiful gift idea for your Mother or Grandmother: hanging baskets!

Grown locally by Greenbush Greenhouses in Lumby, these baskets come in three varieties: Sun, Shade and Pollinator (providing food for bees and hummingbirds).
A 13" basket is $35.00 (plus GST & PST), with $5.00 of the proceeds donated to the Lumby Food Bank.

Pre-order your basket by May 3rd, then pick up at the Co-op on Friday May 10th, 11:30am - 5:00pm (baskets must be picked up this day). Come early to choose your baskets!

Purchasing Update from Sharon

Portrait of Monashee Co-op Purchaser, Sharon Greenwood

Canada Health Food Show orders started arriving in March, and in the beginning of April the weekly sales at the Co-op began, starting with an overstocked freezer sale! Watch for the CHFA sales to continue throughout April, changing every Wednesday.

Produce has still been an ongoing challenge, especially the celery, broccoli and cauliflower. I have to say I am looking forward to the local growing season this year a little bit more than normal!

Keep watching Facebook for upcoming produce lists for the week, weekly sales, new products and special events. We are also working on a weekly Produce Sales Flyer.

Upcoming Events

Anniversary Celebration

Mark your calendars! We will be celebrating our fifth anniversary on Saturday May 25th, followed by a Member Appreciation Potluck on Sunday May 26th.

Next Board Meeting

Wednesday, April 24th at 6:00pm
2103 Mountain View Avenue

Volunteer Highlight

Co-op Volunteer Julie Pilon

Meet Julie Pilon, the Co-op's Vendor Liaison and Board Director. Every growing season Julie picks up produce and products from our local farmers and producers.

Julie loves spending time in her garden with her grandson, having fun and teaching him about food sustainability.

Before becoming a Monashee Co-op member in 2018, Julie and her family were part of a Co-op while living on the Coast.

Thank you Julie for all your hard work! You are amazing!

Vendor Highlight: Bella Stella Cheese

Meet Irma and Igor Ruffa, they own and run Bella Stella Cheese, located in Lumby, BC.

Bella Stella products start with whole milk from grass-fed Jersey Cows from certified organic Vale Farms in Lumby.

You can find the following Bella Stella products at the Co-op: Yogurt, Kefir, Garlic & Herb Cheese Spread, as well as Brie, Truffle, "Monashee Gold" and Ricotta cheese.

Fun Fact: The Co-op is in conversation with Bella Stella about moving to refillable glass jars for their yogurt. The Co-op is keen to move towards being a Zero Waste destination store. Learn more at our Earth Day display during the week of April 22nd- 27th.
