The Lindleys in Papua New Guinea

March 2019

Springing Into It

Why we're here in Papua New Guinea (PNG):

To see God's Word in every language
and every life.

A fun picture with the Carey family and a mutual pastor friend of ours, Ron Frost. Ron recently visited and ministered in our community for ten days via Barnabas International. A truly rich and edifying time. (pc: M. Brewer)
Thank you for your response to our November 2018 personal video titled "Your Love Will Surely Come Find Us". It has been engaged with nearly 60,000 total times on various social media platforms. Excited and hopeful for a second video to begin filming as early as this May! Click here to help make it come alive!

Was involved in a key role in our community's Christmas production that Cathy wrote, titled "The Greatest Gift". It was quite a treat for Lyss as she had been in the play when it was first staged for the first time nearly 7 years ago, though in a much smaller role.

She then continued her theatrical expressions by being in the High School production in early March of a play called "Backstage" (as pictured below; pc: Sarah Troolin).

PRAYER POINT: That she'd begin to 'transition well' into a furlough that begins in late June of this year that will be marked by change (brother to graduate and move onto college, subsequent 18 months apart from said brother, attending a public High School for first half of junior year, etc.).

Competed in and just wrapped up a successful guys basketball season where the team took second place in the regional tournament. He spent many, many hours shooting baskets and working on his ball-handling skills before the season. It was encouraging to see so much of that investment pay off on the court (see short video clip below).

After much prayer and back-and-forth, we are honored to 'announce' (sounds so formal, doesn't it?) that Andrew has both been accepted and decided to attend Northwest Christian University (NCU) located in Eugene, OR this coming fall. Yes, for those 'close-to-home', it likely means his allegiance to the University of Oregon Ducks will increase. Cough-wink.

PRAYER POINT: That he'd continue to be able to be both present in the now and also in the prep of the future (getting ready for NCU, big international transition next year: being apart from his mom, dad and sister for 18 months beginning in January 2020, living permanently in his 'passport country' - something he's not done since 2011, etc.).

A quick, candid video of Andrew shooting a free-throw in early January right before the season began. Practice, practice, practice. Smile.

tOdd & Cathy

Cathy, as stated previously, wrote and directed the Christmas production and then was the backstage manager in the most recent High School production (again, ironically titled 'Backstage').

tOdd recently wrapped up his first season as the head coach of the guys High School basketball team (see team picture below). A fun experience and a special privilege to be able to coach Drew.

PRAYER POINT: For both of us--but especially for Cathy--as we begin to pray about our future and whether or not we should proceed with Cathy pursuing a three-year degree program to earn an Ed.S. (Educational Specialist) in School Psychology beginning in late 2021 (right after our current 16-year old daughter, Alyssa, graduates High School).

This coming furlough from July 2019 to January 2020 not only includes helping Andrew transition into college but also 'prospecting' potential future schooling for Alyssa come the fall of 2021 and that now, too, of Cathy.

Guys Basketball Team: Andrew front row, second from the left and tOdd, of course, back row and far left. This was our 'serious' pose. Smile. (pc: Brena Bruner)
The SoCal-based Gospel reggae band, Christafari, is looking to once again be here in our area of PNG this coming May (they were here before in October 2016, too). As such, be in prayer for this ministry opportunity to not only happen, but to transpire with much 'Bible translation' fruit coming from it. Stay tuned! Here's the recap video from 2016.
