Pavlov's Squirrel

October highlights from your Cortexian chums.
  • Matt got his speak on at the 2020 Bright Futures summit
  • Sandra the Squirrel hopped back in the innovation box as we kicked off not one but TWO new internal initiatives... one is a foray into algorithmic trading and the other a set of functional utils and data tools for finance industry types. Intrigued? So are we... let's all watch this space.
  • The acorn analogies don't end there, though, as this month CTX dev Jonny 'J5' Spicer becomes the latest member of the Cortex alumni, who, having spent 18 months working on our own property portal, leaves us to join a slightly bigger one... Zoopla. Best of luck J5.
  • And speaking of property data, the analytics falling out of our platform show that the astonishing performance of the Guernsey property market in 2020 shows no sign of slowing down... with 907 (and counting) bonds with a combined total of £392m issued year-to-date...
  • October's #1 technology facepalm was still the news that the UK's £12b track and trace programme fell over... due to Excel.
  • And finally, last month we were accused of shamelessly cutesifying the newsletter with an abundance of adorable animals. Quite frankly we find such intimations to be frivolous, scandalous, bordering on libellous even, and we're distraught.
(Sorry not sorry.)

UNTIL next time....
