March is C-word month
News from Cortex.
#1 - Cor...tex. Well obviously we're going to lead with that one. Highly unusual times at the moment but fortunately (we think?) all of our stuff in the cloud the vast majority of our work is already done remotely so we're still in operation.
#3 - Lunch && C
#2 - but yep, Coronavirus (or Covid-19 if you want to sound fancy) is obviously a thing that is interfering with many things in many ways. All we can do is bid good luck to everyone as we all adapt to what this means for now and the future.
ode...ancelled. Fairly inevitable really given current events. We thought cancelling it was preferable to Lunch && Coronavirus. L&&C will hopefully be back in May.
#4 - Change - with the dramatic and rapid shift to skeleton staff, remote working and reliance on collaboration tools (which admittedly has been a bit bumpy), we've been musing what this will mean for the proliferation of AI and other new tech. We expect the direct threat to jobs to actually increase as businesses come to realise they can do more with less; BUT, that AI could not have replaced the community response to this crisis. Norms will shift, again.
And on that bombshell, we'll end this with #5 - camera. Before all this kicked off, we'd been experimenting with a webcam at the top of Cortex Towers and we managed to squeeze out a cheeky timelapse. Hope you like!
Until next time... stay well (and wash your hands.)

PS. Sorry -one more- but CRS... it remains to be seen if reporting deadlines will be relaxed but until then various jurisdictional deadlines are fast approaching.
PPS. For all the bare shelves and toilet paper shortages, spare a thought for the lowly sprout!
