Yiddish Songs with Ira Temple : Fundraiser for Black Trans Femmes in the Arts Collective
This is not our event, we just think you should check it out. Join Ira Temple, Yiddish Accordionist, for a rousing night of Yiddish songs! What better way to celebrate Pride than to donate to the Black Trans Femmes in The Arts Collective? More details here. Donate/register here

Thursday, Aug 13 - Zoom: 5PT, 8ET
Anti-Fascist Klezmer from the Shtetl to the Streets
Join us, Geoff Berner, and Ira Temple for an online event featuring musical performances, discussion, and a QnA with the audience. In these times of growing white supremacy, police brutality, and neo-fascism, we need music that rises to the occasion. This summer in particular, we have seen a powerful uprising to these injustices, led by Black, Brown and Indigenous communities. Klezmer has a long tradition of songs that cried out for workers rights, against police brutality, and for a world free from fascism. Show organized by IJV Canada. More details here. Register here.

The Antifa Kugelbook
Whether you're stuck at home or stuck in a mindset, a crisis is a good time to change the world.  Before the pandemic, before lockdowns and the cancellation of all public events, we imagined a cookbook of beloved recipes, inspired by The Anarchist Cookbook: recipes for kugel and other foods, yes, as well as instructions and stories about cooking up other types of mayhem, music, and community.  We see this collection of recipes as little letters.  The sharing and passing down of recipes is a form of cultural preservation, continued acts of resistance to assimilation and cultural erasure by dominant culture/white supremacy. May we find some sweetness as we collectively cook up revolution, and savor the results. Thank you so much to everyone who's contributed so far! Submit your idea by replying directly to this email, ideally by August 1st.

A petition
Especially for locals, please consider signing: Racial Justice Demands for Seattle Jewish Organizations.
You may not really see yourself as part of more establishment Jewish community. Maybe you've been building something outside of the capital J Jewish community instead of trying to move these existing institutions that don't serve us. Yes! We wanted to send this petition along because we are being asked by some Jews of color to use it as one pressure point of many. Let's get to a thousand signatures!

Love,
Brivele
