Help with Montana Chamber Outreach
|
|
Dear fellow Montanans:
Question: Guess who wrote this?
“The climate is changing and humans are contributing to these changes. We believe that there is much common ground on which all sides of this discussion could come together to address climate change with policies that are practical, flexible, predictable, and durable. We believe in a policy approach that acknowledges the costs of action and inaction and the competitiveness of the U.S. economy. [We believe] that an effective climate policy should support a market-based approach to accelerate GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions reductions across the U.S. economy."
Answer: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce!
We invite you to join a fun group of us MT CCL volunteers in contacting your local Chamber of Commerce. We're asking dozens of Chambers across Montana to support the U.S. Chamber's position and include a carbon-fee-and-dividend policy as a market-based approach in a support statement.
Please contact Robin Paone at FlatheadValley.mt@citizensclimatelobby.org to connect with the MT CCL Chamber of Commerce Outreach team.
Happy Holidays and remember to buy local!

Help CCL Reach Goal of $1.5M in Grassroots Donations

Support the grassroots movement that just won't quit!
We CCL Montana volunteers have accomplished a lot this year. We could not do it without the wealth of tools, training, and strategy we receive from the Citizens' Climate Lobby.
Right now Senate Democrats are negotiating the largest potential climate package in U.S. history through a process called budget reconciliation. Thanks to CCL volunteer efforts, the policy we have long advocated for — carbon fee and dividend — has made it into these negotiations. A price on carbon will ensure that we get to 50% emissions reductions by 2030 and avoid the most devastating consequences of climate change. But only if it gets passed.
Will you help make impactful climate solutions a reality with a year-end donation to tax-deductible Citizens’ Climate Education?
Too often, political engagement stops at the ballot box. But at Citizens’ Climate, we’re changing that. We equip everyday people with the training and tools they need to become effective citizen lobbyists, and then mobilize to strategically move Congress on climate.
Your year-end donation will keep our world-wide lobbying force (and CCL Montana) organized, trained, and ridiculously effective.

December Monthly Meeting
Citizens' Climate International Citizens' Climate International had a major presence at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow, Scotland, and Isatis Cintrón Rodriguez was a big part of that presence. The Latin America Regional Coordinator for CCI and a CCI founding board member, Isatis addressed the High-Level Segment of the COP26 negotiations in Glasgow on the value of stakeholders’ active participation in the design and implementation of climate policy. She'll talk about her work at COP26 and how people affected by climate change can have input into solving the problem. In addition to her work with CCI, Isatis is a doctoral candidate in cryospheric science at Rutgers University.
Each month, Citizens’ Climate Lobby supporters from around the world gather locally for a monthly meeting where we educate ourselves by listening to a guest speaker.
