In our June newsletter, we launch our LMRUK Fundraising Quiz and introduce our new SMS donation service, as well as highlighting one of our amazing fundraisers.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
During this challenging time, we want to help provide you with as much information as possible to ensure you’re receiving the best guidance and advice for your circumstances. Here are some useful websites to help guide you through these unprecedented times:
One Cancer Voice has worked in partnership with selected charities and NHS England to produce guidance for cancer patients during Covid-19. Read more here.
The Government and Public Health England have updated its guidance for vulnerable people who are shielding and isolating due to Covid-19. Read more here.
The NHS has a dedicated Covid-19 webpage with information and advice about the virus. Read more here.
The Government is issuing regular updates on the number of Covid-19 cases and risks in the UK. Read more here.
A lot of fundraising events and challenges have been cancelled or postponed to protect people against a wider spread of Covid-19, but the demand for our vital research into blood cancer and stem cell therapies hasn’t stopped.
Although this has meant a lot of our fantastic fundraisers have hung up their baking aprons for the time being or are eagerly awaiting the next marathon date with their running shoes at the ready, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to our fundraisers for continuing to support us. Whether this is through online donations in memory of a loved one, or via our online shop, your valued support is helping us in the fight against blood cancer and protecting the next generation.

A message from our charity Ambassador, Zoe Gillings-Brier
"These past 12 weeks since lockdown began in the UK have been very challenging and trying for many us, with people having to quickly get to grips with home-schooling, working from home, delayed or cancelled medical appointments and treatments, and not being able to see or hug our loved ones.
"Despite all this, it’s been incredibly inspiring and positive to see people come together to bring some light to a particularly dark time for many. From bold and colourful rainbows in windows, to the weekly clap for the NHS and keyworkers which saw people of all ages join in right up until the end, and with people taking on personal fundraising challenges, such as the awe-inspiring Caption Tom Moore – our communities feel stronger than ever.
"To everyone who has taken on an exciting fundraising challenge and helped to raise vital funds for LMRUK, on behalf of the charity, we want to say a big thank you – you’re all champions!"

Lucy’s birthday fundraiser
Lucy Drew, a 31-year-old primary school teacher in Somerset marked her birthday this year with a fundraiser in memory of her brother-in-law Nik Drew, who lost his battle with leukaemia at the age of 40 on Saturday 15th February 2020.
“Nik passed away a week before my birthday, so naturally, I didn’t feel like celebrating. I’ve seen friends on Facebook creating birthday fundraisers asking people to donate to charity instead of cards and gifts, and this seemed like a perfect way to pay my respects to Nik while making a difference.”
