The Montessori School of Camden is a Gold School of Excellence! We celebrated MSC's middle school program for scoring in the top 25% of all SCDE middle schools. Congratulations to Thornwell Charter School for being named a Gold School of Excellence! In order to receive this award, TCS' middle school program scored in the top 25% of all SCDE schools in Math. Additionally, the middle school program was named a Silver School of Distinction, and the elementary program was named a Gold School of Distinction.

Institute staff and leadership traveled to Summit Classical School to celebrate their academic achievements! Summit has been named a Silver School of Distinction, meaning that it outperformed the local school district and demonstrated average growth in ELA and Math. House Representatives Chris Wooten for House and Rep. Micah Caskey presented a resolution to the Gray Collegiate Academy cheerleading team. The resolution celebrated the Lady War Eagles' victory in the Class 2A State Championship - the first cheerleading state title in school history. Last week, our Authorization team traveled to Midlands STEM for a renewal site visit. While there, they had the opportunity to observe several classes, walk around campus, and speak with the leaders to get a better understanding of how we can work together to #MoveTheNeedle.

The Institute team has been busy all over the state this month, participating in and hosting trainings to #MoveTheNeedle for our schools! Our Finance team attended the South Carolina Association of School Business Officials Conference to collaborate and grow so that we can better serve our schools. Meanwhile, our Accountability team is hosting a series of trainings at South Carolina Connections Academy to help teachers unpack math standards.

The Institute Charter School Ambassadors enjoyed a retreat where they crafted a mission statement for the Ambassador program and had some fun with a round of bowling!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Read Across America Week with our schools! Several Institute team members enjoyed the opportunity to read to students at Institute schools across the state.
