2018 - The Year in Review

CES gained accreditation for collection of air samples to determine air-borne asbestos fibre counts on membrane filters. This means that the whole process from collection of samples to fibre counting can be performed by our staff to the high-quality standards required for accreditation.
Our mobile labs are now fully operational and accredited for fibre counting. These mobile labs allow us to analyse filters on-the-go and send results to customers without delay.
CES is delighted to be providing quantitative analysis in soil by staff holding BOHS P408 qualifications. Send us an email if you would like to discuss asbestos in soil requirements or download our submission form to send us a soil sample.
Worksafe sent out a notice of change in the exposure standard for lead in inorganic dust and fumes. From 2019 the WES-TWA for lead in inhalable dust will be reduced from 0.1 mg/m³ to 0.05 mg/m³. Contact us if you would like to conduct workplace exposure testing for lead or other metals.
The requirements for businesses in the Asbestos Regulations to develop an asbestos management plan if asbestos is identified or likely to be present, came into effect on 4th April 2018. Contact us if you would like an asbestos survey or assistance with a management plan.
The Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists sent out a notice advising that the SKC Ltd plastic Higgins-Dewell style cyclones were over-sampling respirable dust at their originally specified flow-rate of 2.2 L/min. CES customers are unaffected by this notice as we supply the Casella SIMPEDS cyclone which is considered a “true reference”.
Be careful with your decorations this Christmas!
