Monthly Newsletter of Wahiawa United Methodist Church
May 2022
Dear Church Family,
We are excited and grateful to relaunch our family ministries this month! Today after worship, Kyle and I will host our families with kids and teens at the parsonage for hotdogs and tie dye shirt making.
Moving forward, our children will be in worship on the first Sunday each month for Communion. On the rest of Sundays, elementary schoolers will have Sunday school with Ms. Fukuda during worship. They'll gather at the sanctuary and walk to their classroom together. Next Sunday, May 8 will be our first day of Sunday school.
The plan for youth is that our middle and high school students will join us for worship every week, assisting with welcoming, running our slides, and serving as acolytes. Youth group will meet after church on Sundays about twice a month for lunch and fellowship. Our first youth group gathering will be on Sunday, May 15 after service.
As we reconvene in person, now is a great time to bring a neighbor, grandchild, or friend to church! I hope that you will extend invitations to your loved ones during this time of coming back together.
Many blessings,
Pastor Jessica

Here is a link to the application, due by June 30. Please contact Emma Brown at emmab326@gmail.com with any questions. Priority will be given to those active in the life of our church.
Easter has been a wonderful time of regathering. Thank you to the Congregational Care Committee for the wonderful butterfly craft and Ms. Fukuda for the super fun egg hunt!
Thank you to Leimomi for organizing a successful work day to clean up our social hall! Updates to our campus also included new plants from Doris and our refurbished sign.
Missions has been busy at work! Over the course of 3 weeks, Rosie, Susan, and a dedicated crew of volunteers packed and labeled 4 pick-up trucks worth of donations to send to those recovering from the Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai eruption and tsunami. In partnership with multiple congregations, Wesley UMC shipped a total of 2 large containers to Tonga!
During April, our church collected more than 2,514 diapers were for parents in need served by the Susannah Wesley Community Center! Missions and United Women in Faith partnered in this effort. Note: United Methodist Women (UMW) now has the new name! They are now United Women in Faith, but still have the same purpose: "Driven by God's love and united in sisterhood, we work to improve the live of women, children and youth."
May-June Room Devotional
Our church orders copies of the The Upper Room devotional for our community members to take home and use for prayer and reflection. The May-June issue has arrived! You can pick one up on Sunday in the narthex before or after worship. Alternatively, you can contact Jay in the church office if you would like a copy mailed to your home. Note there are large-print copies available.
We continue to look for individuals and families to sponsor flowers for Sunday worship! Contact Jay in the church office to reserve a Sunday. You have the option to bring your own arrangement, order directly through a local florist, or make a donation to the church and order an "in-house" arrangement ($60 minimum with 2 weeks' notice).
