Monthly newsletter of Wahiawa United Methodist Church
Dear Church Family,
Each of you is in my thoughts and prayers as we end the season of Lent and prepare for Easter. These past forty days have been long, but the end is in sight. Join us this Sunday, April 4 at 10 a.m. for Easter worship, and have a friend to login with you!
Last Sunday, Teresa relaunched our youth group with an evening gathering on Zoom. I encourage you to invite a teen in your life to join in this fellowship. It is so important, especially right now, for our young people to receive unconditional love and support.
After Easter, our Reconciling Ministries Task Force will host a month of education and reflection on LGBTQ inclusion. Please see the information below and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for all you do!

We are so excited to relaunch our ministry for middle and high school students! This spring, our youth will gather twice a month on Sunday evenings on Zoom. It will be a fun time of playing games, getting to know each other, and learning about God's love.
It's that time of year again! Emma and her team will award scholarships to students pursuing postsecondary education. This year, the application is online. Please use the link below to submit your information. The deadline is April 30, 2021.
Thanks to your generosity, we are nearing our goal! If you have not given yet, please consider contributing to help us finish strong. We appreciate each gift in support of our ministry and the future of our church. A special thanks to Janis for her leadership!
For a month starting in mid-April, the Reconciling Ministries Task Force invites you to join in a time of reflection on LGBTQ inclusion. During worship, members of the Task Force will share their testimonies. On April 25, we will have a special guest preacher and joint service with Trinity UMC. And on May 9, we will take a straw poll on whether we as a church are interested in joining the Reconciling Ministries Network, formally affirming LGBTQ people. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any member of the Task Force: James Higa (chair), Bob Lormand, Atina and Leo Pascua, Nicole Nonies, and Lani Nedbalek.
To support our discernment, Pastor Jessica will teach a special study on focusing on inclusion and biblical interpretation. The Bible study will meet on Zoom at 7 p.m. on April 15, 22, 29, and May 6.
The Congregational Care Committee (CCC) would like to express a big MAHALO to everyone who participated in the DIY Easter project! Thanks to Doris, Chuck, Ellen, Lori, Pattie, and Shirley for making it possible!
