Monthly newsletter of Wahiawa United Methodist Church
Dear Church Family,
November is a busy time in the life our local United Methodist church! In preparation for our Charge Conference on December 1, our leadership team has been busy submitting forms, preparing reports, and planning for 2022.
We are so excited for what God has in store for us next year. We hope to fully reopen and begin outreach to our community. Part of our plans include hiring a staff person to focus on youth and family ministries. This will be a valuable investment in our church's future.
With this in mind, I hope that you will give generously in 2022. This week, we will send out our annual pledge drive mailing. In the packet, you will find additional information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to me or any member of our finance team.
With deepest thanks,
Join us Sundays at 10 a.m. for worship!

Our incredible Congregational Care Committee was at it again, creating Halloween goodie bags with special snacks and do-it-yourself Halloween crafts. Mahalo Chuck, Doris, Ellen, Lori, Pattie, and Shirley for all that you do for us!
November means that it is time for our annual pledge drive! You'll receive a letter in the mail asking you to consider your contribution to our church's ministries in 2022. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the wonderful members of our church finance team: Janis Loventhal (Finance Lead), Christel Hepa (Treasurer), Edna Ng (Financial Secretary), and June Galdeira (Foundation Administrator).
This one-time Zoom session features practical suggestions and reassurances through video interviews with counselors, grief experts and other people who have experienced the holidays after a loved one’s death. It can be very helpful in dealing with the hurt of grief and loss. Those who are interested should make a reservation so that the free booklet, with over 30 daily readings providing additional insights and ideas on holiday survival, can be mailed to them prior to the session. Call Jim (808-232-3992) or Jay at the church office (808-622-4361) to make a reservation.
On November 28, the first Sunday of Advent, we will open our sanctuary for those who would like to worship in-person. If you would like to worship remotely, there will continue to be a Zoom option using the same link.
Preregistration - Seating will initially be limited to 50 people. Each week, everyone who wants to attend in person will need to preregister. Preregister by using this link or calling Jay at 622-4361.
Check-in Process - Plan to arrive at church at least 15 minutes early. Our volunteer team will scan your temperature, ask you questions about symptoms and exposure, and usher you to your seat.
Safety Protocol - Facemasks will be required at all times. We will abide by 6-feet social distancing between households. (Sorry no hugging or fist bumps!) At least for now, there will be no congregational singing allowed.
Physical Items - We will not provide paper bulletins or hymnals. Instead, you can print your bulletin in advance or read it off of your smartphone. If you need a seat cushion, please bring one from home.
Refreshments - There will be no food or drinks allowed, with the possible exception of Communion.
Bob Lormand and team will provide additional instructions. Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility. We look forward to seeing you in person!
Save the date! Our church's annual Charge Conference will be Wednesday, December 1 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. If you are a church member, please plan to attend and vote on important items of church business, including our 2022 budget and leadership team. If you are new to our church and interested in formally becoming a member, please let Pastor Jessica know! We would love to answer questions and and hope to hold a new member class soon.
New Upper Room Available!
The November-December issue of The Upper Room is now available in the church office. Multiple church members have shared that the daily devotionals and scripture readings have been invaluable in strengthening their walk with God.
If you would like a copy, please reach out to Jay at firstname.lastname@example.org or 622-4361. Let her know if you would like a large-print version. Alternatively, you can request a copy mailed to your home.
