Monthly newsletter of Wahiawa United Methodist Church
Dear Church Family,
I hope this email finds you safe and well. Thank you for understanding about our last-minute return to online worship! We decided to take a cautious approach given recent COVID-19 case counts. We have also decided to postpone the start of in-person youth group. If you are not yet vaccinated, please take that step to protect our community.
The good news is that we have a date for our sanctuary reroofing! Construction is set to begin on Monday, August 9. Hopefully the work will be complete before the end of September and with fewer COVID-19 cases, we will be able to return to hybrid worship.
Amidst the pandemic, life continues on. Our preschoolers, kids, youth, and college students are all beginning a new school year. I hope you will join us in worship later this morning as we pray for their health, safety, and wellbeing this upcoming year.
Join us Sundays at 10 a.m. for worship!

Our sanctuary reroofing is scheduled to start on Monday, August 9. The construction will take at least 2 weeks, depending on the number of crews available. A special thanks to Janis (Finance), Leimomi (Trustees), and June (Foundation) for their leadership and hard work. We appreciate each and every person who contributed generously to our campaign!
New 2021 Directories! Pick up a copy from the church office Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon or Friday from 8 to 11 a.m. Alternatively, you can request a copy by mail. Contact Jay in the church office at 622-4361 or email@example.com.
For many years, our church has been part of Faith Action (formerly FACE), a network of local congregations advocating for fair and just public policies. Faith Action is currently in the midst of their annual fundraising drive! Use the link below to donate.
Before the pandemic, our church committed to be part of a new Central Oahu rotational shelter for families. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic the project is on hold, but there are other ways that we can support! In particular, Family Promise is looking for volunteers to cook dinner for families in emergency shelter. For details about the contactless meal program and other volunteer opportunities check out the following link.
Thank you CCC! Our thoughtful and industrious Congregational Care Committee created beautiful back-to-school goodie bags for our children and youth. Thank you Chuck, Doris, Ellen, Lori V, Pattie, and Shirley for caring for our church family.
Mahalo to our handy volunteers! A big thank you to Satoru, Hiroshi, Isaac, Mel, Lahela, Brittney, and Corky for responding to our call for help around church! We pressure washed the sidewalks, repaired the sign outside of the office, replaced the women's restroom faucet and installed new soap dispensers. We're still looking for help to help with ballast light fixtures. Contact Leimomi or Elliott if you are able to help!
