Dear colleagues,

We enter the fourth quarter of 2020 living in unprecedented times. Here at the Green Growth Community (GGC) we see now more than ever the need to create systemic change and increase cooperation to transition to a green and circular economy.

Today we are excited to present the Green Growth indexes that measure the impact of the 14 Modular Projects of the Interreg MED GGC in three main elements of green growth – environment, society and economy – in the Mediterranean area.

We also look forward our upcoming gatherings at ECOMONDO (3-6 November) and our Green Growth Business Forum (10 November). Both events will provide opportunities for diverse stakeholders in the Green Growth network to meet and demonstrate their commitment to action-driven progress for a greener, more inclusive future in the Mediterranean region.

Spotlight

Moving towards a green and circular economy at ECOMONDO

ECOMONDO will be a digital event taking place from 3rd to 6th November with live streaming sessions bringing together all sectors of the circular economy.

The GGC will host seminars at Community level to showcase unified results and policy recommendations, while some of the GG Modular Projects will present best practices, interactive tools and innovative methodologies. View the full agenda here and register below to attend the online sessions:

Accelerating Green Growth at the Business Forum

Save the date for the first online Green Growth (GG) Business Forum organised by the Interreg MED Green Growth Horizontal Project on Tuesday, 10th of November 2020 14:00-16:00 (EET) within the framework of the Circle the Med Hybrid Forum 2020. The Forum aims to highlight GG opportunities in the Mediterranean region, and to unlock market opportunities through participants’ interaction.

How the Green Growth Community works

The Green Growth Community's activities and its 14 modular projects are organised around four focus areas that address the key priorities of the EU Green Deal and the EU Circular Economy Action Plan. The Community contributes to these priorities by building upon and capitalising on the first phase of our project (2016-2019), when 14 projects were carried out to tackle challenges in food systems, eco-innovation, smart cities, and waste management, amongst others. Modular Project highlights

EMBRACE works with SMEs and organisations within the wine and agro-food sectors to integrate the principles of the circular economy. The objective is to support innovation by capitalising methods and instruments through an innovative toolkit.

Creativity: a capacity that SMEs can develop and use for sustainable and innovative growth

CreaInnovation stands for 'Creativity-driven Innovation', and it aims to create sustainable innovation in SMEs using creative methods and processes.

Euro-Mediterranean Resource Efficiency for the EU Green Deal

Humanity will consume three times the Earth’s resources by 2050. To avoid this doomsday scenario, improving our food systems is key, and the European Union’s Green Deal has made this one of its top priorities with the Farm to Fork strategy. Our recent article featured at the Green Growth Knowledge Platform offers a glimpse into Euro-Mediterranean projects making progress on the ground.

Smart and green public services in Euro-Mediterranean cities

By 2050, 68% of the global population is expected to live in urban areas. Therefore, designing more sustainable cities will be crucial in the decades to come. To respond to this global challenge, the 'smart city' concept seeks to understand how digital technologies can help to reduce the environmental footprint of urban areas, including that of public services. In this article featured in REVOLVE Magazine, we zoom in on the efforts of the Interreg MED GGC to develop green and smart public services in Euro-Mediterranean cities.
