Meet and Greet at Public School 368K

Elmy’s Special Services, Chief Executive Officer, Ray Knights, met with parents at Public School 368K to discuss individualized services to children and adults diagnosed with intellectual and/or developmental or other disabilities. During the conversational meet and greet, Mr. Knights introduced parents and school officials to services provided at ESS and demonstrated employee training and development techniques. Participating parents were given the opportunity to hear from school officials on their child’s progress and learn effective methods to best support and promote the independence, growth, and functioning of children diagnosed with developmental or other disabilities.

This event is part of an ongoing series of workshops and initiatives designed to inform, educate and support families with children and adults living with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.  We believe that every person, regardless of his or her race, ethnicity or disability, should be treated with dignity and respect. Because of this belief, we will ensure that every person is afforded the opportunity to achieve his or her full potential through appropriate and individualized programming. It is our core mission here at ESS.

A Day of Fun At Modern Pinball NYC

Individuals from our Day Habilitation program enjoyed a stimulating day of educational learning and games at the Modern Pinball; an interactive museum and party place in NYC. As a New York City Department of Education Approved Vendor, The Museum of Modern Pinball NYC offers a real-world approach to understanding Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM & STEAM). ESS Individuals learned the history and inner workings of functioning pinball machines; explored technical engineering, art, and design in demonstrations facilitated by Modern Pinball staff; and played games.

The experience built upon key tenets of our mission. Individuals engaged in activities that further developed skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and independent living. We here at ESS are strong advocates for inclusive environments that engender academic enrichment. We believe that individuals with developmental disabilities benefit socially from opportunities for community involvement, personal growth, and socialization.

Elmy’s Special Services’ Weekend Respite provides temporary relief for families or other caregivers of people diagnosed with intellectual and/or developmental or other disabilities who reside in any of the five boroughs.
