On Monday night Cindy Lo spoke virtually at our January Empower Hour to a group of UT students about her journey as a female, Asian American entrepreneur. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions in a casual environment and hear Cindy’s candid, honest advice. 

Meet February's #FeaturedFemaleFounder Khira Patel the founder of FostaParty

FostaParty is a non-profit event planning service that provides free birthday parties for children in the foster care system. In high school, Khira Patel mentored a little girl who had been through the foster care system and was touched by her strength and resilience despite the adverse circumstances she had faced. This friendship is what sparked Khira’s passion to better the lives of foster children. When someone hires FostaParty to plan their child’s birthday, the profits from the event provide a free party for a child in the foster care system.

Join Allison Byers, Founder & CEO of Scroobious, for the next Empower Hour, Pitch Deck Basics happening on February 10 at 12 pm CST. Discover strategies for instructing your pitch from Byers, who has raised nearly $10m for her startups and is now committed to helping underserved founders get in front of the right investors with the right message. Her company, Scroobious, is a woman-owned company building a video-based platform for diverse startups including Black, Latinx, women, LGBTQ+, and veteran founders to be discovered by and connected to angels, venture capitalists, and corporate investors.

Diversity and Inclusion in Entrepreneurship: Navigating the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem // February 24th 5:00 p.m.

The 2021 Diversity and Inclusion in Entrepreneurship summit will provide UT students and the greater Austin community insight on ways entrepreneurs from underserved communities can successfully launch entrepreneurial ventures utilizing the support of the larger entrepreneurial ecosystem.
