The message this week is from George…
The email is later than usual this week because I have had some time off… and forgot to do anything about it in advance – sign that the time off was needed! Consequently this is a short message to get the notices to you before worship this morning 😊, which I hope goes well whilst I go back to finishing my leave! It seems clear what I can say by way of brief greeting and encouragement… I am reminded this week that it’s important to take some time off, change your routine, do something different, shift your perspective. Options for doing this are limited at the moment, especially if you are staying at home, but actually that makes it even more vital that you make the effort to make some days holidays – literally of course ‘holy-days’ when God can find you again in a new way. I have had a great few days like this and I hope you are able to create some holy-days for yourself sometime soon.
Oakwood Church Sunday worship for 21st February...
10.15 for 10.30 – Oakwood Church Zoom Worship – This week Kathryn Fitzsimons will be leading our service when we will be reading 1 Peter3 18 to the end, and Mark 1: 9- 15.
16.00 – Methodist Circuit YouTube Service – live on YouTube at 16.00 on Sunday, or watch whenever after that is convenient for you. This week the service will be led by Rev’d Helen White and Rev’d George Bailey will be preaching on Genesis 9 – Noah and the Rainbow (video made in advance to give George the day off!). You can also watch previous services and other videos on the same Leeds North and East Methodists YouTube channel.
Thursday Morning Prayer – every Thursday on Zoom from 09.00 for a 09.15 start.
Church giving – Thank you for your ongoing giving. There is more information here if you would like to support the work of the church. Please note that due to changes with banking security and the name of our accounts, there is a change to how cheques for Oakwood Church are written out. At present they now need to be written to ‘Roundhay Methodist Church’ and also write ‘Oakwood Church’ on the back. Our accounts have to be held by one of the two of our legal trust bodies, and in this case it is the Methodist one. Cheques marked Oakwood on the back will still be shared between the Methodist and Church of England finances as usual.
Worship at Home Sheet – this is the sheet for 21st February which has been posted to people who do not have internet access.

Question of the fortnight – To help us all keep our faith alive whilst our life together is scattered we are asking each other a different question each fortnight – can you talk to someone on the phone about this question –
What issues of injustice are you currently concerned about? What are you doing in response?
