For the latest advice on how to combine your hygiene and prayer habits, see the end of this email! In other news: NEW VIDEO Scripture Group with Canon Tom ready for the Palm Sunday Entrance Gospel, a great website of Catholic resources which can be accessed free for 40 days, a new magazine for Corpus Christi (and friends!), and an urgent campaign against the decision (sneaked through yesterday, without Parliamentary scrutiny) to allow doctors to prescribe abortive medicines over the phone, for women to take in their own homes, and deliver their dead child with no medical supervision.

We know of a few people from our parish who are suffering from the virus, so please keep them in your prayers – along the many parishioners who work in our Hospital. Very many thanks for all that you’re doing.

I hope people were able to join in the prayers of Rededication of England as Mary’s Dowry on Sunday. We participated in spirit from Corpus Christi. If you haven't yet, it's not too late to pray the Prayer of Rededication.
In the absence of our weekly Scripture Group, Canon Tom has prepared a short study on Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem (Matthew 21.1-11). Concludes with the Blessing of Palms, which will be kept ready for you to collect, just as soon as it's safe to come out again!
Tomorrow is the first of April, so why not have a flick through Corpus Christi’s new magazine, edited by Angela Clarke? Sadly it wasn’t quite ready for printing before the virus hit – but it’s available to view online, by clicking the link below. If you would like to contribute anything for the next edition – perhaps a few thoughts or a picture from lockdown? – please contact Angela via the details on the last page of the magazine. Enjoy!

FORMED.ORG is a website which offers high quality resources for Catholics: videos, films, ebooks, MP3 talks, and more. Why not use some of this lockdown time to discover more about the faith? There are programmes also for children (RE homeschooling?), and for youth.

One family who uses this recommends the daily 3-minute Lenten reflections, the ‘Opening the Word’ videos on the coming week’s Sunday Gospel, and several feature-length films about the lives of various saints.

There is currently an offer for 40 days free, just follow the link below. (You’ll be asked to give payment details, but you can cancel before the 40 days are up). Let us know how you get on... if people find it useful, it’s possible for the parish to sign up and offer free access to parishioners.

From RIGHT TO LIFE UK: The Government has announced the biggest change to abortion provision since 1967: introducing telemedicine abortions where ‘DIY’ abortions will be performed at home by women on themselves without a doctor or other medical professional present.

The very substantial change has been made without any public consultation, parliamentary scrutiny or debate.

Previously, abortions could only take place in hospitals or abortion clinics approved by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care. Under the new temporary policy, doctors will be able to prescribe abortion pills (mifepristone and misoprostol) over the phone or video (e.g. Facetime or Skype).

Women will then perform their own abortion at home, by taking both abortion pills, meaning they will be left to deliver their own dead unborn child at home without direct medical supervision.

The Divine Mercy candle at Our Lady of Lourdes is still being kept burning! This week’s special intention is Pat Williams, Family & Friends.

Given the importance of frequent hand-washing at the moment, why waste time singing ‘Happy Birthday’? Why not instead use those 20 seconds to pray a gently-paced Our Father, asking for God’s protection? Or a Hail Mary & Glory Be, for those suffering? To be honest, I know a few Irish Catholics who could probably get through an Apostles’ Creed and two decades of the Rosary…
Many thanks to all those who have given us addresses of parishioners who don’t have access to the internet, so that we can post copies of the newsletter to them.

Why not pick up the phone today to somebody who may be on their own?
