How can it be March? How can it be just about a year of virtual worship and living with Covid? How can we already be halfway through Lent? The passage of time seems somehow altered this year and yet I see the promise of Spring and the foreshadowing of resurrection in the beautiful sunshine and the blooming of the Lenten roses at Walker Chapel.
We continue our Lenten series this Sunday - “Roll Down Justice.” And we will celebrate Communion together, though virtually. You might prepare for worship by setting your table for Communion. Maybe bake something special. Remember that when we gather around the table asking God to bless our food, our homes, and our families - our meals are very much like Communion. Every meal a sacrament and a blessing. The Walker Chapel choir has prepared a special Communion anthem for worship. It is one of our favorites and may be familiar to many of you. We offer it as a blessing as we share Communion together. Come expecting a blessing!
Lenten/Easter Offering
Out of the shadow of the Pandemic comes the light of Resurrection. You can become a part of that light for people who are sick, hungry, poor, homeless, addicted, and made more desperate by Covid-19. 100% of Walker Chapel’s Lent-Easter Special Offering goes to organizations serving people here and around the world who need your help. Profiles of each of these benevolence organizations may be viewed at https://walkerchapel.org/benevolence/.
With a goal of $10,500, this offering is one of the special activities by which our congregation annually raises all its funds for our church’s carefully selected benevolences. Please make a generous donation, either by mailing a check to the church office (marked “Lent/Easter Offering”) or by donating on-line (visit the website at https://walkerchapel.org/payments/ and then select the “Lent/Easter Offering” fund option.) Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
In addition to our Lenten/ Easter offering, our food drive for the Arlington Food Assistance Center will continue into the foreseeable future to ensure our neighbors impacted most by the virus have dignified access to food. At the link below you will find the Volunteer Sign Up for the months of March, April, and May. Please sign up for a few shifts and then forward this email on to your family, friends and neighbors in and around Arlington who might like to help us out!
Now please enjoy a few photos from this week's baby shower for new Walker Chapel member Rachel Nyswander Thomas Parham! We are praying for the safe arrival of the Parham twins!
