We have decided to cancel our contactless food drive drop off today due to weather. We will see you next Saturday and Sunday from 1-3pm. But just because we can't be out and about this Souper Bowl Sunday doesn't mean we can't support the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). Today AFAC is sponsoring a community-wide Empty Bowls fundraiser on Facebook. Thank you for helping ensure that everyone in our community has dignified access to food during these difficult times. Stay safe and enjoy the snow!

Fresh Expressions Retreat I February 26th and 27th
A Guided Planning Retreat for Becoming the Congregation of Tomorrow
The crises of 2020 have accelerated the need for churches to "future-fit" for our new world. You and your team need a planning retreat where you can craft a strategy to take your congregation into the future.
Future Church Summit brings futurists and missional practitioners alongside your team to chart a course for the road ahead.
This season has left us with many uncertainties. When can our churches safely gather? How do we live in both a virtual and a physical congregation? How can we stay engaged with our people?
Yet, one thing we can be certain of - the future of our congregations doesn’t look like the past. The good news is that amidst this crisis, there is great opportunity.
Registration information for Walker Chapel with be included in upcoming Chapel Notes. But look forward to planning a future-focused strategy for the coming year and beyond!
Every Saturday and Sunday, 1-3pm at the Chapel. There will also be other volunteer opportunities (that are in accordance to our Healthy Church Team's important requirements), helping load the AFAC truck etc. Together, we will see this crisis through and ensure that our neighbors have dignified access to food.

Prayers for the World
For the families of the more than 6,500 people who have died in Virginia of COVID19 since last March. For the more than 510,000 people who have contracted the virus. We pray that enough vaccine will soon be available to vaccinate all of the most vulnerable people in the U.S. and around the world.
For the health care and other front line workers fighting the pandemic. And all those financially impacted by it.
For the 1/7 Americans who are food insecure. We pray that people give generously at our food drive.
For the people of Myanmar, where the army has staged a coup, overthrowing the elected government. We pray also for democracy activists in Russia and Hong Kong who are being jailed for advocating for democratic reforms.
For the U.S. Senate, who voted 86 to 13 to confirm Pete Buttigieg as President Biden’s transportation secretary. Buttigieg became the first openly gay person ever to win confirmation to a Cabinet position.
For the thousands of California prison inmates who were infected with COVID19 and for the families of the 28 who died of COVID19 when prisoners were transferred from one facility to another.
For the families of the 50,000 Tigray civilians killed in the Ethiopian-Tigray civil war.
For the LGBTQ youth protesting discrimination in Turkey. A total of 159 people were detained for demonstrating on Monday. Homosexuality is legal in Turkey but official government opposition to the LGBTQ community has grown in recent years. The Istanbul Pride march was banned for five years in a row up to 2019.
For peace between Palestine and Israel, as the U.S. resumes aid to the Palestinians and allows Palestine to reopen its equivalent of an embassy, the Palestinian Liberation Organization office in Washington, D.C.
For peace, environmental justice and health for all around the world.
You can submit prayer requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. All prayers are confidential and only shared with the pastoral team unless otherwise noted.
