The real estate development and construction industries have historically been male-dominated, that is rapidly changing with the inclusion of more women entering the AEC workforce.

Get Visible! is more than just a conference, it aims to be a catalyst for helping women in the AEC industry expand their presence, influence and career success in a changing industry. Together, we will enter this new decade with a spirit of learning, engaging and inspiring excellence within our organizations.

This unique Forum provides a venue to engage everyone from executives to those just beginning their careers with active, hands-on sessions and vibrant networking with the best and brightest in the A/E/C industry. In our usual I-LinCP Forum style, Keynotes become table participants and table participants become presenters, encouraging participants to assimilate what they are learning. Join local, state and national leaders and subject matter experts as we candidly explore and address the issues affecting women in our industry.

Sponsorship is available at just $500!

If you are interested in sponsoring a table with keynote speaker, La Juana Chambers Lawson, call (210) 904-0457 or email lj@growthistacit.com

Getting to the Growth

What you should invest in order to grow your bottom-line in 2020.

U.S. News World Report provides best stocks to buy each week, month and year. For example, John Divine recently shared his list of the best stocks to buy to jump start wealth creation in 2020 in this slideshow article. Among them was Facebook (FB) because of its 2.5 billion users, Facebook Marketplace and its revolutionary cryptocurrency plans integrating its portfolio of WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger. Investing has long been thought of as a rich (wo)man's game; I challenge you to start thinking of investing as a thinking (wo)man's strategy. Thinking people take risks and recognize restraint as a constraint of operating a project that results in one of two things. One, it limits the project in a way that prevents success. Or two, it limits the project in a way that keeps it operating in (relative) control and scope.

For 2020, I offer the following investments for you to grow your own personal and/or professional bottom-line:

#1
Grant writing training, assessment & research.
A lot of folks say that they want a grant. Very few understand what a grant is and what it is not. For example, I recently contracted grant research and writing services with a non-profit in Houston, Texas interested in grants to support their operating costs. Specifically, the Executive Director wanted me to identify grant funds that would supplement salary and fringe benefits (like a gas allowance and health insurance stipend) for a grant writer. As few grants exist to support operating funds for non-profits, I developed a plan to justify the expense of a highly reputable Development Officer to add to the organization's team -- explaining the role and responsibility of a Development Officer in contrast to that of a grant writer and how the role and scope of work fit within the organization's strategic plan. I communicated that plan to the organization's Board of Directors and helped them to establish (from existing funds) a baseline for the new position's salary as well as a milestone schedule for the office holder. The position is budget-neutral and has resulted in strategic partnerships, grants and gifts for the organization.

#2
Professional Development.
When's the last time you received some professional development? Professional Development aids in retention, career success and gaining visibility. We frequently offer PD; when will you take advantage?

#3
Face Lift; new book and website, who dis?
