Courthouse Community United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, VA.

We are so excited to welcome Donna Smith to our Courthouse Community UMC staff as our new Choir Director and Director of Youth Ministries! In her own words:

"Many of you may recognize me from the Praise Team. My name is Donna Smith, and I am excited to have been hired as CCUMC's Choir Director for the traditional service and Director of Youth Ministries for our outstanding youth!

"I received my Bachelor of Arts in Music from Virginia Wesleyan University this past May. This was an accomplishment long in the making – on the 29th anniversary of earning my high school diploma. Being the daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher and a public school Music teacher who also taught piano lessons, I have been a part of music ministry since singing my first solo at age four. I have sung in numerous choirs, directed choirs and played for many a church service.

"My experience in serving as a Youth Minister involved planning and leading weekly Bible Study, taking youth on annual mission trips, directing youth choirs, and planning fundraising activities. I recruited and trained volunteers, primarily parents and young adults, to work with the youth and helped them develop as leaders. Also, in my role as Youth Minister, I counseled our youth and helped them to grow and develop as followers of Christ.

"I am excited to serve CCUMC and our Lord and Savior in these two positions! My email is I will have weekly office hours which I will post as soon as I finalize them. Please feel free to reach out at any time."

We look forward to seeing all the ways Donna's presence will continue to bless the people of CCUMC and the community around us!
As CCUMC has moved to in-person services, it is also time to return to a full counter schedule.   If you have served as a counter previously or are interested in serving as a offertory counter, please contact Brenda Kellogg ( or 757-373-2917) or Donn Lee ( or 757-427-3272). The more we have to share in this service to our church, the longer the rotation schedule.  Do you have an hour you can donate to the church every 6 to 8 weeks?

Courthouse Christian Preschool & Afterschool - Kids Corner!

CCPA Summer Camp for 3-5 year old preschoolers is in full swing! We are having so much fun! We are busy exploring the arts and the outdoors. We will be having the Mad Science of Hampton Roads visit to do programs on “The World of Worms!” and “Butterflies.” We also have the Kona Ice Truck coming by to share a special treat with all our camp goers! Later on this summer we will be Exploring the World around us including Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Under the Sea and It’s a Bug’s Life.
Our Camps are fully enrolled! So excited to be able to share our summers together!
Be on the lookout for another new shade on the Preschool playground. We sure love taking the learning outside and these shades are 20 degrees cooler under them!
