E-Circuit Rider

A publication for making disciples of the family and friends of
Courthouse Community United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, VA.

Wednesday, April 14, 2021
Dear <<First Name>>,

Throughout the season of Lent, we opened doors of discipleship so that we could grow closer to Jesus.  Christ is risen!  He is risen indeed!  Jesus rose from the dead and He is alive!  Before Jesus ascended back to heaven, the resurrected Christ walked for 40 days and appeared to over 500 followers on at least 11 different occasions.  Because Christ is alive, we can be alive!  This series will lead us to spend the weeks ahead encountering Christ who is alive, so that we may be fully alive!

In God's Love,
Pastor Beth

When you visit your doctor for a check up, they check your vital signs to get a sense of how you are doing. Those vital signs will reveal if your health is on track in the direction you are seeking or if you may want to begin a regime towards course correction.

Courthouse Community UMC is in the heart of Virginia Beach and we have a heart filled with the love of Jesus and love for our neighbors, our city, and the world! John Wesley said, “The world is our parish.” How are we showing the world the love of Jesus Christ?

How are we living out our mission to make disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world?

In what ways do we invite, engage, and equip all people to love and worship Jesus Christ?

A snap-shot of our vital signs is
available here. In some ways, the vital signs may reveal and remind us of places we know are growing edges, and in others ways we can celebrate the ways we are responding to God’s call!

Leading up to the Heartbeat Update on April 18th, each week we will share videos so that you can get to know members of the Leadership Board. Click or tap on the images below to see a brief introduction video. This week we meet Jennifer May and Jeff Snyder!

If you have particular questions for the Leadership Board, you can submit any questions you have before the Heartbeat Update by clicking here. Thomas Etter, 17-year-old Life Scout in BSA Troop 471, has been working towards his Eagle Scout award.  One of the requirements was that he choose an Eagle Scout Project.
Thomas chose to build a Blessing Box (a place that people can come and get non-perishable food items) and hold a food drive for the Courthouse Community United Methodist Church.  Since his Eagle Scout project was approved November 2020, he has focused on raising money for expenses, organizing supplies, recruiting construction helpers, and collecting food.
Thomas has committed to stocking the Blessing Box by providing over 220 canned/boxed items to the Food Pantry at  Courthouse Community United Methodist Church.  Future canned donations may be brought directly to the Church, placed in the Blessing Box, or dropped off directly with the church or food pantry.  A plaque has been attached to the Blessing Box post recognizing Thomas and the completion of his Eagle Scout Project.
Thomas would like to thank Courthouse Community United Methodist Church for accepting his project, and a special thanks to Donn Lee for his help in coordinating this with Thomas.
The deadline for submissions to the E-Circuit Rider is Wednesdays at 10 am. Please send any submissions to Any submissions received after that time will be added to the following week's email.
