The Be@t project aims to explore and encourage the innovative production and use of sustainable natural fibres and functional textiles composed by agricultural and industrial by-products and residues, as well as to deploy reuse and recycling solutions, eco-design and digital traceability tools and awareness-raising campaigns.
Be@t will be funded by the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and will contribute to a more circular and sustainable bioeconomy. Magellan Circle is involved in Communication and Dissemination Actions.
The project will last for 36 months, starting on the 1st of July.

REV@CONSTRUCTION – mid-term Conference

On the 6 September the mid-term conference event for REV@CONSTRUCTION will be coordinated by BUILT CoLAB in Centro Cultural de Vila Flor in Guimarães, Portugal. 🇵🇹
Inserted in the International ISIC (International Society for Intelligent Construction Conference) 2022 week, the mid-term Conference will present all the work developed until now by its project partners under the main theme "Digital Construction Revolution in Portugal".

CFIS2022 — Conference on Fire Safety at Sea

We are pleased to inform you that on October 11th at the EMSA facilities (Lisbon), will take place the CFIS 2022 (Conference on Fire Safety at Sea), the second conference of the project LASH FIRE - Legislative Assessment for Safety Hazards of Fire and Innovations in Ro-ro Ships Environment. 🛥️
CFIS 2022 will continue the outreach work done at CFIS 2021 and on this occasion the conference will focus on Alternative Fuelled Vehicles (AFV) fire in the maritime sector. ⚓

STEERER Final Event + Demos

This November, the STEERER project will come to its end.⚡
The project will organise its final event "Future Exploration of the Waterborne Transport Sector" on 12 October 2022 in Antwerp, Belgium. This event will include a forward-looking exercise towards 2050, as well as site visits to demonstrators of zero-emission waterborne transport solutions.

The PIONEERS First International Conference will take place on the 20th October 2022 in Port House Antwerp, Belgium.  
Under the theme “Shaping the Green Port of the Future”, the conference will address key aspects and challenges in the port sector towards an harmonised Green Port Master Plan.

5G-LOGINNOV — Collaborative Innovation Day
|
|
|
The Collaborative Innovation Day (Virtual Event, 4th October 2022, 09:00 am – 1:00 pm), jointly organised by the H2020 project 5G-LOGINNOV and ALICE, aims to showcase how 5G is revolutionising the logistics sector in Europe. 🇪🇺
During the event, experts in the maritime, transport & logistics and 5G scopes fields will deepen the state of the art and the future views of 5G. Two interactive workshops will close the event where “Emerging 5G business opportunities and models” will be discussed and participants will get acquainted with Athens Living Lab.

European Innovation Council (EIC) – Pathfinder Challenges call
Under pillar III of Horizon Europe, the European Innovation Council (EIC) Work Programme for 2022 provides funding opportunities worth over €1.7 billion for breakthrough innovators to scale up and create new markets.
Specifically, the EIC Pathfinder Challenges call, destined to fund the proof of principle and validate the scientific basis of breakthrough technology (TRL1-4) will tackle six specific challenges in the areas of environment, energy, health and digital innovation.
It provides grants of up to 4 million euros per project, with a funding rate of 100% of the eligible costs and a total call budget of 167 million euros.
The deadline for proposals is October 19, 2022.

EIT Urban Mobility 2022 – Startup Investments Programme
EIT Urban Mobility, the knowledge Innovation community (KIC) of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) launched a ‘Capital for your Mobility Startup’ call looking for
startups to invest in which offer innovative urban mobility solutions to create a more social and healthier environment in cities.
As an impact investor, EIT Urban Mobility invests in solutions that contribute positively to at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to sustainable cities and communities, clean energy, and climate action. When becoming part of the EIT Urban Mobility’s equity portfolio, start-ups can expect up to €500.000 investment, mentoring services, exclusive funding opportunities and introductions to the largest pan-European mobility network.
EIT Urban Mobility reviews applications following a 2-stage evaluation process, and the selection process will last until December 2022. More information here.

Social Europe, Baltic Sea Protection & European Citizens’ Initiative
|
|
|
EU Member States transposed the Directive on transparent and predictable working conditions into national law. The Directive provides more extensive and updated labour rights and protection to the 182 million workers in the EU.
The European Commission (EC) adopted its proposal for fishing opportunities for 2023 for the Baltic Sea. Based on this proposal, EU countries will determine the maximum quantities of the most important commercial fish species that can be caught in the sea basin.
The EC decided to register a European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) entitled ‘Call to achieve a tobacco-free environment and the first European tobacco-free generation by 2030'. The organisers of the initiative call on the Commission to propose legislation to save new generations from falling into tobacco addiction, to act against related environmental dangers and against smoking.
