New project: PAREMPI preventing particle emissions in urban areas


Coordinated by VTT - Technical Research Centre of Finland, PAREMPI is a new Horizon Europe project which has officially started in January 2023 where Magellan leads the communication and
exploitation of results. 


PAREMPI stands for Particle emission prevention and impact: from real-world emissions of traffic to secondary PM of urban air.

Its main goal is to produce scientific evidence and knowledge, develop digital tools and recommend policies targeting all transport modes to prevent ambient PM2.5 (Particulate Matter) concentrations.


 

 
 

Bauhaus of the Seas is setting sail

 

The Bauhaus of the Sea Sails project officially kicks-off on 1 February at Hub Criativo Beato and on 2 February at Gulbenkian! 💥

Conceived as a journey with Portugal as a starting point, the project will generate a design movement that will extend to all coastal and maritime regions in Europe. 18 partners from 9 countries, ranging from cultural institutions and art schools to research centres and municipalities, will demonstrate solutions for climate neutrality. 🌊

Envisioning a triangle of sustainability, inclusion and design, the initiative will particularly focus on coastal cities as an interface to healthy seas, ocean and water bodies. ✨

5G goes 6G: New Opportunities of Mobile Communication for a Better City & Better Life

 

The hybrid event will take place on 23rd February, in Hamburg, Germany, from 9:00am to 4:30pm CET.

The workshop organised by 5G-Loginnov Consortium and Huawei, aims to provide startups, SMEs, and stakeholders' communities with new business opportunities for Smart Cities and innovative I.T.S. applications, including Ports and Logistics.

CFIS2023 - Conference on
Fire Safety at Sea 

 

We are proud to invite you to the third edition of the Conference on Fire Safety at Sea - CFIS2023, co-organised by Magellan as part of the EU-funded project LASH FIRE on fire prevention and safety.

The public Conference will take place in Pula, Croatia on the 28 June 2023. The event is an excellent opportunity to gather experts in the maritime fire safety area to discuss the latest technology innovations and the
final results of LASHFIRE.

PTPC Annual Forum

 

Co-organized by Magellan Circle, the 11th PTPC/Cluster AEC Strategic Forum will take place on February 1st (9 am-1 pm), at the LNEC premises in Lisbon.

Within the scope of the Sustainable Fashion From Portugal Project, Magellan worked with the Portuguese Textile Association in the development of a programme for TV5MONDE. The episode of the "Clin d‘Oeil sur le Monde" TV series showcases the North of Portugal textile and clothing industry.

Connected and cooperative mobility with
Marzena Jougounoux

 


Marzena Jougounoux is the Head of Office at the CCAM (Connected, cooperative and automated mobility) Association in Brussels.

Clean Hydrogen Partnership – 2023 call for proposals
 

The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (JU) public private partnership under Horizon Europe launched its hydrogen research call for proposals on January 17. A total of 195 million euros distributed per 26 topics is available for projects in an unprecedented drive to support the creation of cutting-edge hydrogen technologies.
The call addresses key priorities identified in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) of the Clean Hydrogen JU within different areas of research and innovation. It tackles the entire hydrogen value-chain, funding the development of hydrogen valleys and specific projects on renewable hydrogen production, storage, distribution and end-uses in transport, heat and power.
Similarly to Horizon Europe, funding rates vary between 70% and 100% according to the type of action. The deadline for proposals is April 18. More information and the 2023 Work Programme are available here.

CEF Energy: 2023 call for cross-border renewable energy projects
 

The European Commission and CINEA launched the second CEF Energy call to obtain the status of cross-border renewable energy projects (CB RES status) and therefore enter a list of projects eligible for CEF funding (CB RES list). Having the official CB RES status is a requirement to be eligible for financial support for studies and works under the CEF Energy Programme.
Obtaining the CB RES status can provide further benefits such as higher visibility, increased investor certainty, and stronger support from EU countries. The call also covers projects facilitating renewable energy sources integration through energy storage facilities which contribute to the strategic uptake of innovative renewables. Promoters of candidate projects for the CB RES status can participate in the call by submitting an application via the dedicated the CB RES submission platform by 3 May 2023.

Euro & Schengen, Digital Decade Policy & European Citizens' Initiative

On the 1st of January Croatia adopted the euro as its currency and fully joined the Schengen area. This marks an important milestone in the history of Croatia, of the euro and Schengen areas and of the EU as a whole. It follows a period of intensive preparation and substantial efforts by Croatia to meet all the necessary requirements

The Digital Decade policy programme 2030, a monitoring and cooperation mechanism to achieve common targets for Europe's digital transformation by 2030, has entered into force.For the first time, the European Parliament, Member States and the Commission have jointly set concrete objectives and targets in the four key areas of digital skills, infrastructure including connectivity, the digitalisation of businesses, and online public services, in respect of the Declaration on European Digital Rights and Principles

On the 12th of January, the Commission decided to register a European citizens' initiative (ECI) entitled ‘Article 4: Stop torture and inhuman treatment at Europe's borders.
The Initiative calls for a framework ensuring compliance with the prohibition of violence and inhuman and degrading treatments
enshrined in Article 4 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in relation to the EU policies concerning border controls, asylum, and immigration.
