1. Coming up on Sunday...
In 1 Corinthians 12, we read how everyone has a part to play in the body of Christ, the church, and when we each offer our unique gifts and skills the body thrives.

At West Kirby URC, we want to be a healthy ‘body’ and we have an exciting vision to work towards together so, at both services over the next three weeks, we're going to be thinking prayerfully and practically about what it means to serve in our church.

This week, at the 10.30am service, Louise will be leading and preaching on how "God has arranged the parts in the body", and at the 6.15pm service, Karen will be leading and Jane preaching on how "God calls... All His people to serve". Please join us for worship, Word and prayer - everyone's welcome.

Thank you to Shirley Rose for this week's flowers. Each Sunday the flowers are enjoyed by the congregation, then delivered to someone who might need a little something to brighten their day, or a special 'thank you' from us all.
2. Serve With Us...
Alongside the 'Body of Christ' preaching series, look out for a new display of all the roles people can serve in at West Kirby URC - there's a huge variety, something for everyone!

We're also introducing a clearer way for people to get involved... Interested in serving at West Kirby URC for the first time? Or in a new way? Just complete one of the new postcards (they'll be around on Sunday), pop it in the envelope on the 'Serve With Us' board, and we’ll be in touch soon  Or get in touch with:
  • Kath Hilborne – 07930 137041 – commsmanager@wkurc.org.uk - Kath works for the church and would love to chat with you if you’re new.
  • OR Gordon WilsonGordon has served in all sorts of voluntary roles at West Kirby URC and maintains the record of who covers which roles and where there are gaps.
The Small Print... To help the church, as a charity, to comply with good practice, a new Volunteer Policy, mutual expectations paper, role descriptions and other documentation has been prepared and filed for reference. These documents guide us in caring for and protecting all who serve at West Kirby URC and maintaining the church's integrity in the world. Copies are available from Gordon or Kath for anyone who would like to read them,
3. Three ways to serve on Sundays
Complete a postcard or get in touch with those asking for help below...

Rosemary Shaw writes, "Please is anyone able to help with Sunday morning refreshments? Looking for one person to team up with Gordon on the second Sunday of each month and also for two people to do any 5th Sunday during the year which means doing refreshments 4 times over 12 month period. If able to help, please contact Rosemary Shaw Tel no: 625 2115. Thank you.

Dan Sach writes, "We have a wonderful team of youth and children's volunteers, but it is now quite a small team. More are needed, especially to help with Children’s Church on Sunday mornings. Please speak to me (07916 326141)  if you are at all interested in helping out - thank you".

Tony Wilson writes, "Car Park Stewards needed to join rota on 1 per month basis 9.55-10.30am. This is a much appreciated support activity for morning church – particularly with growing numbers attending. Please contact Tony if you can help or would like more information 07711-285892"

** Currently, no-one is available to be Car-Park Steward on 19 June (could you?) so please assume you will need to park on the road unless you see someone at the gate **

4. Please invite Ukrainians & Hosts to Drop-In
Liz Wilson writes, "We had a lovely afternoon at the first Drop-In on Tuesday, meeting 7 Ukrainians. Some had been in this area for 4 weeks, others only recently arrived. They all enjoyed the chance to meet others and share stories and eat cake! It was good to meet other hosts too. Thank you everyone who helped make it happen. Drop-In will continue each Tuesday for the moment".
5. Visit Jim & Jenny's Art Exhibitions
Jenny Usher writes, "Two of our members have exhibitions at this year's Studio tour. Jim Fleming’s is at the Blue Moon gallery in Heswall. Jenny Usher’s (Jenny Bache) is at her home, 19 Lang Lane. West Kirby. The online catalogue of all the studios that can be visited over this coming weekend can be found at wirralarts.com. You are all welcome to come and have a look around at the art work we have done".
6. The Filling Station - Thursday 17 June
We welcome The Filling Station to West Kirby URC on Thursday 17 June at 7 for 7.30pm. Their usual venue is unavailable that evening, so we are delighted they can come to us instead, especially since Alison, Kathlyn and Colin are part of The Filling Station team. Whether or not you have visited The Filling Station before, you are very welcome to come along that evening to enjoy worship and prayer with Christians from across Wirral.
7. Come to the Church Meeting - 22 June
Everyone's invited to the next Church Meeting, coming up on Wednesday 22 June at 7.30pm. The Church Meeting is a great opportunity to share in worship and prayer together, to hear news from various church leadership teams, ask questions and together discern the Holy Spirit's guidance for our next steps.

George Ryan (Secretary to the Church Meeting) will circulate reports to read before the meeting to the church members by email. If you're not a member and would like a read, you are very welcome to contact George (georgehryan@sky.com) for a copy and to come along and join in discussions.
8. Carol's Thanksgiving Service - 26 June
We will celebrate the life of our friend Carol Gamble with a special service at West Kirby URC on Sunday 26th June at 2pm.

Liz Wilson writes, "As we cannot set up the hall for refreshments until after the morning service, we will need lots of help from 12 noon onwards to set up tables and chairs, and mugs for tea and coffee, and cut up cake.

If anyone has small vases and flowers from their garden that could be used to decorate the tables that would be lovely. Please bring them on the day.

I would be grateful if you could let me know if you are willing to provide a cake. I will not be in church for the next two Sundays as we are on holiday so a text (07803600329) or email message please.(elizabethmwilson@btinternet.com)

If you are willing to help serve drinks or to help to clear up afterwards please inform Liz. Thank you very much".
