1. Men's Breakfast & Toddlers for Dads tomorrow
We usually host Men's Breakfast and Toddlers for Dads on different Saturdays of the month but, just for May, the best option was to have both tomorrow, Saturday 7 May.

Men's Breakfast will be on at Grand Ave from 10am, with Paul Franklin hosting, and Toddlers for Dads will be in the Halls and Church from 10am, with Jimmy Lindsay and team leading. We can accommodate children up to age 7 at Toddlers for Dads and there's no waiting list for places, so please do invite families you know to come along. And all men are very welcome at Breakfast too - even if you've already eaten at home, call in for a cuppa.
2. Coming up on Sunday...
At the 10.30am service, we're continuing the 'Resurrection People' series and this week Colin Usher will be leading and Simon Lakin preaching on 'Resurrection Bodies'. Everyone's welcome in-person and on Facebook Live. The duty steward will be Liz Wilson.

The new style of Children's Church will continue this Sunday, so families please come in through the church doors as usual then feel free to drop your children off to the team in the hall from 10.15am for lots of games, crafts, Bible stories, dancing and fun.

At the 6.15pm service, Louise will be preaching on the next in our series on Craig Groeschel's book, 'Winning the Way in Your Mind'. Come along for worship, Word and prayer, and there will be refreshments available from 6pm. The duty steward will be Jenny Usher.

Thank you to Louise Taplin for this week's flowers.
3. Our friend Carol Gamble
Carol (left) and Jane very happy when there were new chairs in the small hall!
After a lovely afternoon helping at Toddlers, Carol Gamble suffered an acute and catastrophic stroke last Friday and she passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on Sunday. The news reached us shortly before the evening service and there was such an outpouring of love for Carol and thankfulness for her friendship. Carol's kindness, strength, hospitality and humour will be so missed, but we rejoice that she is now healed and home in Heaven and we join in prayer for Jane, Carol's daughter, and for Beth and Maddie, her grandaughters. Details of Carol's thanksgiving service in June will be confirmed soon.
4. Breakfast Event - Saturday 14 May

It's the last weekend to buy your tickets for this special event. We can't guarantee any tickets will be available on the door so please contact Paul Franklin ASAP to reserve yours.
5. Holiday Club 25-29 July - Bookings Open!

6. Thy Kingdom Come - 26 May-5 June
Collect your Thy Kingdom Come prayer guides from the entrance lounge
There are prayer journals, Bible study books, prayer cords, cards and children's story books - all free from Thy Kingdom Come!

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians to pray each day from Ascension (26 May) to Pentecost (5 June) for five friends to come to know Jesus. Since its start in 2016, God has grown Thy Kingdom Come from a dream of possibility into a global movement and now churches from over 80 different denominations and traditions in nearly 90% of countries join in and we will play our part too, lighting up the world in prayer. Please collect your prayer guides and more from the entrance lounge.

“In praying 'Thy Kingdom Come' we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities."
Archbishop Justin Welby

7. Wirral Foodbank
Wirral Foodbank have asked local churches to continue their valuable support as the number of people requiring emergency food is growing weekly. Donations can be brought to Church during Sunday services or can be left in the boxes on the doorsteps of Paul & Louise Franklin, Sarah and Tim Spencer, Liz and Tony Wilson. Thank You.
8. Pentecost in Liverpool - Sunday 5 June
Churches Together in Merseyside have asked us to share this message...

"The big emphasis of the jubilee weekend on Sunday 5 June will be community street parties which will be held throughout the country. The main event at the Pentecost Walk 2022 is a Platinum street party type celebration for all generations in the Anglican Cathedral, with long trestle tables, space for family picnics, rugs on the floor and lots of bunting! This is to join in with the Queens' Platinum Jubilee as well as celebrating the joy of Pentecost. Please bring your families and church communities along!

3pm:                    10 minutes open air service at the Metropolitan Cathedral
3.15pm:               Walk down Hope Street with mass community choir
3.45pm:               15 minutes all age service in the Anglican Cathedral
4 - 4.45pm:          Picnic time and activities
5pm:                     Pack up time and finish

9. Noticeboard...
Save the date for the next Church Meeting - Wednesday 22 June at 7.30pm.

Rev Louise will be away from Monday to Thursday attending the National URC Ministers Gathering in Staffordshire.  Her day off next week will therefore be on Friday. Please contact another member of the elders/staff team if you have an urgent need next week.

Need to pop into the church or hall? Please contact Maxine, our hall bookings secretary on wkurc.halls@gmail.com / 07933 167307 beforehand so that you don't have a wasted journey if the room is already in use.

A bin-bag full of clothes has been found in a cupboard in the Greig Room, perhaps it was a collection to be donated somewhere? It looks like it might have been there for a few years, but if it is yours please collect it from the church office or, if not, it will be donated to the charity shop in a fortnight.

Many thanks for your financial gifts to support the life of the church, 'Connecting your Community to Christ'. Information about giving to West Kirby URC is available here.

Look out for the e-Messenger coming to your inbox towards the end of each week. If you have a notice to include, please send it to commsmanager@wkurc.org.uk by 6pm Wednesday.
