1. Breakfast with Esther Scholes Tomorrow!
2. Coming up on Sunday...
At the 10.30am service, we're continuing the 'Resurrection People' series and this week. Liz Matthews will be leading and Jane Gamble preaching on 'Resurrection People: Raising Doubts'. Everyone's welcome.

The new style of Children's Church will continue this Sunday, so families please come in through the church doors as usual then feel free to drop your children off to the team in the hall from 10.15am.

We are short of helpers for Children's Church on Sunday 5 June - if you already have a WK URC DBS, please could you join us that day? Please let Dan know if so.

At the 6.15pm service, Louise will be concluding our series on Craig Groeschel's book, 'Winning the Way in Your Mind'. Come along for worship, Word and prayer, and there will be refreshments available from 6pm.

Thank you to Vanessa Blackwell for this week's flowers.
3. Prayer & Worship - Sunday 22 May, 6.15pm
"When I fight, I'll fight on my knees
With my hands lifted high
Oh God, the battle belongs to You
And every fear I lay at Your feet
I'll sing through the night
Oh God, the battle belongs to You"
The 6.15pm service next Sunday, 22 May will be a special evening of prayer and worship as we are seeing the advance of our vision "to grow a relevant, Christ-like church that serves the community" but also a number of members of our church family have been facing really tough situations.

Even if you don't usually come along to the evening service, please join us to praise God and to pray individually and/or in small groups for our church's growth and protection. There will not be a full sermon this evening, but more time for prayer, and we will finish as usual by 7.30pm. Everyone's welcome.
4. Our friend Carol Gamble
Carol (left) and Jane very happy when there were new chairs in the small hall!
After a lovely afternoon helping at Toddlers, Carol Gamble suffered an acute and catastrophic stroke on Friday 29 April and she passed from this world into the arms of Jesus two days later. The news reached us shortly before the evening service and there was such an outpouring of love for Carol and thankfulness for her friendship. Carol's kindness, strength, hospitality and humour will be so missed, but we rejoice that she is now healed and home in Heaven and we join in prayer for Jane, Carol's daughter, and for Beth and Maddie, her grandaughters. Carol's Thanksgiving Service will be at West Kirby URC on Sunday 26th June at 2pm.
5. Thy Kingdom Come - 26 May-5 June
Collect your free Thy Kingdom Come
resources from the entrance lounge

There are prayer journals, Bible study books, prayer cords, cards
and children's story books - all free from Thy Kingdom Come!

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians to pray each day from Ascension (26 May) to Pentecost (5 June) for five friends to come to know Jesus. Since its start in 2016, God has grown Thy Kingdom Come from a dream of possibility into a global movement and now churches from over 80 different denominations and traditions in nearly 90% of countries join in and we will play our part too, lighting up the world in prayer. Please collect your prayer guides and more from the entrance lounge.

“In praying 'Thy Kingdom Come' we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities."
Archbishop Justin Welby

6. Supporting Ukrainian Families
Liz Wilson writes,

"Our lovely Ukrainian guests are settling in well. It has been a very busy few days with meetings and lots of form filling. We have met a lovely Ukrainian lady who lives in West Kirby close to our house. She is walking the Coastal Walk on Sunday May 22nd to raise money for a Ukrainian charity. Dasha and Nika would like to join her to do the same. I will have some sponsorship forms with me on Sunday so if anyone would like to support them please sign up.

I am still hoping to set up a drop in café in our Welcome Lounge for Ukrainians who have moved to  this area. I need to wait to see when Dasha’s English Language lesson is scheduled before deciding on a suitable day and time. If anyone would like to help with this please let me know. I have some names already. More details to follow in due course".
7. Noticeboard...
Maxine, our Hall Bookings Secretary, will be away from 4-16 June, so please contact her in advance with any booking enquiries. Liz Matthews will be monitoring the booking email (wkurc.halls@gmail.com) and phone (07933 167307) whilst Maxine is away, so do use those contact details if needed.

Need to pop into the church or hall? Please contact Maxine, our hall bookings secretary on wkurc.halls@gmail.com / 07933 167307 beforehand so that you don't have a wasted journey if the room is already in use.

The next Church Meeting is coming up on Wednesday 22 June at 7.30pm.

Save the dates for this summer's children's Holiday Club: each morning from 25-29 July. Children's bookings are open now @ www.wkurc.org.uk/holidayclub.and more information on ways for adults to get involved with helping coming soon!

A bin-bag full of clothes has been found in a cupboard in the Greig Room, perhaps it was a collection to be donated somewhere? It looks like it might have been there for a few years, but if it is yours please collect it from the church office or, if not, it will be donated to the charity shop next week.

Many thanks for your financial gifts to support the life of the church, 'Connecting your Community to Christ'. Information about giving to West Kirby URC is available here.

Look out for the e-Messenger coming to your inbox towards the end of each week. If you have a notice to include, please send it to commsmanager@wkurc.org.uk by 6pm Wednesday.
