1. Coming up on Sunday...

We will have the 10.30am and 6.15pm services as usual, and Carol's Thanksgiving Service at 2pm - details below. Please join us, everyone's welcome.
This week, at the 10.30am service, Louise will be leading and Simon preaching on how "God has combined the parts in the body". Join us in the building or by watching on Facebook Live - everyone's welcome, and children can be dropped off for lots of fun at Children's Church from 10.15am.

At the 6.15pm service, Karen will be leading and Louise preaching on how "God calls... Us together". Come along for worship, Word and prayer, and there will be refreshments available from 6pm.

Thank you to Liz Lindsay for this Sunday's flowers
2. Carol's Thanksgiving Service - 2pm Sunday
We will celebrate the life of our friend Carol Gamble with a special service at 2pm on Sunday. Everyone's welcome to come along. If you can, please wear something green.

For those who would like to, there will be an opportunity to leave a donation in memory of Carol for the Tiny Stars charity, a Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital. It is one of only two such units in Cheshire and Merseyside, which means they are able to care for some of the most poorly babies, some from around 22 weeks of pregnancy. Carol used to knit bonnets and wool squares that mums would wear next to their skin so the babies could then smell mummy in their cots whilst receiving their specialist care.

Liz Wilson writes, "As we cannot set up the hall for refreshments until after the morning service, we will need lots of help from 12 noon onwards to set up tables and chairs, and mugs for tea and coffee, and cut up cake. If anyone has small vases and flowers from their garden that could be used to decorate the tables that would be lovely. Please bring them on the day. If you are willing to help serve drinks or to help to clear up afterwards please let me know.
3. It's only 4 weeks until Holiday Club!
Offer to help on the sign-up sheet in church or by emailing dansach@hotmail.com
Sarah Watson writes, "Calling all pickle eaters! Your Holiday Club needs you! We need around 60 clean and label free jars for one of our crafts at this years holiday club. Small jars that could easily fit a tea light in the neck of the jar. Pickle jars are ideal - we don’t need lids  There’ll be a box at the back of church - many thanks"
4. Serve With Us...
*** Thank you to everyone who has returned postcards so far - there has been a great response and a range of roles filled. The big needs now are for leaders and helpers at Children's Church and people willing to learn to operate the sound desk, projector or video for Sunday services ***

Alongside the 'Body of Christ' preaching series, look out for a new display of all the roles people can serve in at West Kirby URC - there's a huge variety, something for everyone! We're also introducing a clearer way for people to get involved...

Interested in serving with us for the first time? Or in a new way? Just complete one of the new postcards (they'll be around on Sunday), pop it in the envelope on the 'Serve With Us' board, and we’ll be in touch soon  Or get in touch for a chat by contacting
  • Kath Hilborne – 07930 137041 – commsmanager@wkurc.org.uk - Kath works for the church and would love to meet up with you if you’re new.
  • OR Gordon WilsonGordon has served in all sorts of roles at West Kirby URC and maintains a spreadsheet of who serves in which roles and where there are gaps.
The Small Print... a new Volunteer Policy, mutual expectations paper, role descriptions and other documentation have been prepared and filed for reference. These documents help the church, as a charity, to comply with good practice and they guide us in protecting one another. These documents are available from Kath or Gordon for anyone who would like to read them, and they are important, but ultimately just exist to serve the call God gives us to care for each another and maintain the church's integrity in the world.
